Philipsburg Shoping/Sights to See

I think we'll have some time after we leave Mullet Bay and Maho beach to spend some time in Philipsburg before we have to board.

Wife and daughter just like to look around the various local shops, we are planning to take the bus to/from Maho so from the bus pick-up/drop off point where is a good place to go to do some shopping?

Also,

while in Philipsburg are there any good recommended sights to see while we are walking around in the stores?

Cheers!

Boardwalk, Front Street and Back Street and some of the alleyways. Plenty of shops selling everything.

And while DW and DD are spending your money grab a couple of $ and head to Juggies --2beers/cigar/$3. (or something cheap like that). It's off Nisbeth St between Front Street and the board walk. Real hole in the wall. :D

Thanks S.A. and G.T. Was working off an older paper map. Thought maybe I had mis marked the spot. Had no idea ST stood for Steeg either. Anyway, Missrach, I was kinda joking. There are better places to park yourself while your family shops. But Juggie is/was a hoot and the beer was cold, even though the cigars weren't cuban.

Back to the original question, there aren't many sights in downtown Philipsburg. You can see the churches or visit the St. Maarten Museum, but that's about it.

I guess there is the St. Maarten Zoo, just minutes away from downtown Philipsburg, and we have enjoyed it a couple of times.

If you want to shop for something other than jewelry, We currently shop with Mr Tablecloth at the Holland House Beach Hotel. I would recommend that you have someone go, right now, and measure your tables for such, and put the measurements with your cruise documents. :)

Booze is also very popular, and we've settled on Friendly Liquors, with a few shops along Frontstreet.

If it's jewelry, let me know and I'll post our recommendations.

FYI, there are a number of Casinos along Frontstreet. We like Rouge et Noir, as they have Penny Slots and offer free drinks to players.

p.s. You might tag along with the others if they are jewelry shopping, as most shops offer complimentary beers, sodas or water while viewing.

Yes, agree that was not the original questions, but can you help point where on the island such option exists?

google might be your better friend on this question, or maybe some search engine like ixquick.

Or ask a current sailor,:D, .

Well, rather than disrupt this thread, how about starting a new thread with your question, and describe what it is that you're looking for.

Also, are you cruising? Many of the establishments don't open until 10:00 PM or even Midnight, but stay open until 5:00 AM or so.

Can't imagine how the cigar is that comes with 2 beers for $3 :)

And of course it's a Cuban if they say it is! :p

BIL said his wasn't the best but wasn't that bad. I gave mine to DS after it rolled around in luggage and then sat at the house for a week before being mailed. He said never send him that again:eek::D
