car rental logistics San Pedro

We are trying to find a reasonable option for putting in time while waiting for our 7:30PM flight out of LAX. We thought renting a car allowed us to not only be able to move around with our luggage and kill some time, but we can drop car at airport, therefore do not need a transfer.

Can anyone suggest a car rental company that has a shuttle from the port for car pick up, or one that is very close to port. We are arriving on a Sunday and the nearby Enterprise office is closed. The decision will depend on cost to get to car rental office and drop fees for leaving car at airport.

My experience has been similar to yours re Enterprise and both Budget and Avis are in Long Beach, they did not offer a shuttle and are about a $20+ cab fare from San Pedro.

We are planning on renting a car when we arrive in San Pedro on a Friday following our FLL - LA cruise and then drop the car in San Jose. Thinkng we will need to go to Long Beach Airport to pick it up, however, if there is a car rental place near the pier, I'd love to know about it. So, is there a place near the pier that would be open on a Friday?

The closest would be Enterprise in Crown Plaza in San Pedro; you would need to check with them to see if they pick up at the pier. Thrifty, Avis, Budget and Hertz all have locations in downtown Long Beach which will be a $25 or so cab ride from San Pedro.
