Anyone on the Wind right now?

Can anyone report how the Silversea experience is currently on the Wind?

We know from postings in Nov/Dec 2014 (Thank you, Harbormaster and others) that Helmut is the HD, Sergio Maitre'D, Olea the Chef, Colin CD and Captain Palmieri is on the helm.

Our attempt for a roll call has been met with silence, and also the Roll Call for the cruise preceding ours has only two lonely members.

Appreciate any feedback!

We are on the wind sailing tonight to Saigon. The cruise so far has been amazing, the staff in general are friendly and helpful, we have found the entertainers to be far superior to previous performers. The food has been good. They are serving many regional foods which I have not enjoyed.

As to the shore excursions, Paulina does a good job explaining the offerings. I found some of them to be weak. We contracted with Tony from Ann Tours for more custom and flexible tours. Went to Hoi an and DaNang with them and it was delightful. This afternoon we are doing a Mekong river adventure,

As always the fellow passengers hail from all over the world and make it very interesting,

Cardinal Gal,

many thanks for your post. Glad you are enjoying the cruise. We have also booked with Ann Tours for Hue and the tunnels and city in Saigon. Say hello to Tony!

Just one question: did you need passport pictures for the Vietnam Visa and how much did SS charge for the Visa? There are numerous threads and confusion on CC right now on this topic as apparently Vietnam "changed the rules" as of 1/1/2015.

Happy sailing!

Cardinal Gal, thanks for posting. We will be on the Wind in mid-March, starting in Singapore, cruising to Muscat, Oman. Looking forward to that - but also looking forward to your posts along the way. We have sailed on the Whisper, Shadow, Spirit and Cloud, but never on the Wind.

Glad to hear you are liking the Wind so far!

Today we left Vietnam. Our tour guides from Ann Tours were fantastic. We had fabulous tours in Hoi An and Saigon. We compared what we did with the shore excursions offered and were pleased with our choice,

The cruise continues to be top notch, Colin, our cruise director, is present and service continues to be very good. The staff is very friendly and make a point to greet everyone. All of the passengers we have met have nothing but positive comments.

As to the Vietnam visa, SS charged $125 per person for the multi-entry visa. No picture was needed. It was very easy, just fill out a quick form and the visas were delivered to the cabin.

We have probably saved a lot of money being here for the Chinese New Year as most shops and markets have been closed. A little disappointing, but next stop is Bangkok so I am sure there will be everything and anything,

Cardinal Gal,

many thanks for the update/visa info. If you have time in Bangkok (besides all the sightseeing and shopping ;)) book yourself a Spa treatment at the Oriental Hotel (can be done on line:

http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bangkok/luxury-spa/book-a-treatment/ ).

And sitting on the Terrace there (for drinks or dinner) and watching the boats go by is a nice (although a bit noisy) break...

Hello NJBelle,

I too wanted to know who was the Captain, the HD, and the CD for our cruise from Singapore to Muscat sailing on March 19th, perhaps Cardinal Girl will be able to tell us? Will Colin still be on for the 19th March?

By the way we have been on all the traditional ships, apart from the Cloud, we never seem to pick a cruise on her itinerary. You will love the Wind, although of course she is smaller than the Whisper and the Shadow.

See you soon,

Regards

Master Echo

We have one more day on this cruise. Overall we have been very pleased with all aspects of the cruise. The entertainment is an improvement over prior cruises. The crew just seems to anticipate passenger needs.

I have to say again how enjoyable we find our fellow passengers. We have met some very interesting people from all over the world.

We wish they would drop the formal nights, especially when it is so hot.
