Any thoughts whether or not the price will go down at all if I wait to purchase?
Here are mine: yes, no and maybe. Unfortunately, that's what buying air tickets is like.

The better questions to ask yourself are these:-

  1. With a yes or no answer only, is $409 an unacceptable price to you?
  2. If you wait to see whether prices drop, what is an acceptable price to you? If the prices drops to $359, will that be acceptable and will you buy it then, or will you continue to hang on because the price might drop again?
  3. If $409 is unacceptable to you, and you don't buy the $409 ticket now, and you wait to see whether prices drop but prices rise to $509, will $409 suddenly become an acceptable price to you? (Of course, you won't be able to get the $409 price then, just as you can't get a $359 price now.)

Unfortunately, too many people who ask this question think that $409 is only an acceptable price if they can be guaranteed that nobody will pay a lower price later. That's like trying to catch a falling knife.

Apply for an Alaska Airlines-branded Visa card from Bank of America - https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/products/alaska-airlines-credit-card.go - and get 25K Alaska miles (good for Alaska, American, Delta, many overseas carriers) and an annual $99 companion ticket - one (coach) ticket on Alaska Airlines at any published price, a second one for $99 plus tax ($121 usually).

Alaska flies nonstop from Newark to Seattle, so say $530 ($409+$121) divided by 2 = $265 per ticket.

Decent airline, too.

4 people looking to fly from NYC airports preferably EWR to SEA late August 2015. The non-stop price now is $409.00. Any thoughts whether or not the price will go down at all if I wait to purchase?

There is no way for anyone to know if it will or not. Might go down, or might go up. Would you be willing to pay more if you wait and it goes up instead of down?
