Just Back from 3 Nt SOVEREIGN

Recommended Posts

We are still in FL today but leaving tonight. I will write more later but here is a quick rundown....

We stayed in a JS, # 1058 and have lots of pics. Loved the balcony, but there is an overhead thing ? that blocks out ALL direct sun, so no tanning there.:(

Also I have the Compasses, and I saved the kids Compass, all age groups.

Would love to answer any questions, also will be scanning those things tomorrow.

We are scheduled June 10. I was sceptical thinking how old the ship is and worried about it being nothing but kids.

But I am hearing great reviews.

What did you do in Nassau for all that time?

Welcome Back!!

Please post a link to photos of your cabin. Just curious as we have stayed in cabin #1058 twice on its sister ship the Majesty. Would love to see if they differ much since the changes made to the Sovereign.

Yay, I hope you had fun!!

That was my first cruise two years ago and LOVED it!! I think a 3 night was perfect for a first timer!

My sister and brother-in-law loved it so much that they are going on their 3rd cruise with Sov. this Nov! We tell them they need variety! haha!!

For the one with 7 grands.. I went with a pretty big group of cousins, etc ranging from 8-16 and they all had something to do and had fun, I don't have details of what they did.. but they had a blast. Our waiter was awesome (Dave), he always had chicken fingers (in the main dining hall! - even for the 16 yr old!!!) waiting for them. It was pretty funny.

We sailed on the Sovereign in 1992. I think our cabin is now considered a junior suite with balcony. We thought it was great even without the balcony. One of our favorite memories from that cruise was sailing into San Juan at night, watching the lights on land through our huge picture windows.

RE: NASSAU

We had already been to Nassau and did Atlantis and all of that, so this time we just went shopping, but other people we cruised with did the Dolphin Excursion and that said it was well worth the $$.

My 3 yr old was very excited about the Kids Program, and we actually left her on the ship for about 3 hours one of the times we went in to town. I was a little hesitant, but she was fine and probably had a better time there than being lugged around the shops !! And it was HOT. But we came back to the ship early and just hung out at the pool. Kinda nice because the ship was pretty empty.

And we actually got to Cocoa Cay. We were worried because there were T-Storms predicted for that day, and when we got up that morning it was really cloudy and dark, but by the time we headed over, the sun was shining and we never saw a drop of rain.

DH and son went on the Wave Runner Excursion and loved it.

Kids Club had an area set up where you could drop off the kids during certain hours.

I better get back to the scanning !!!

Will be back in a bit.

We just got off this cruise also and enjoyed it. We were in an oceanview room on deck 4. DH noticed the sewer smell one time when we were getting off the ship, but I never did. The comedians were fantastic and clean! We still haven't figured out how the contortionist supported herself by mouth.

In Nassau we just walked around and looked in some of the shops for an hour or two. Then we headed back to the ship and layed out at the pool. It's amazing how quiet a ship gets while in port. Several people in our group headed to Breezes on their own and enjoyed the water activities and drinks included in the day pass.

Cocoa Cay was beautiful, but we headed back to the ship before lunch. Of course we live on the beach so it isn't a big draw for us. Others from our group stayed most of the day I think.

I didn't take many pictures to show, but I'm also willing to answer any questions. We enjoyed Sovereign, but have decided we prefer the longer cruises. This felt like we were disembarking to close to the start of the cruise.

Hi Susan !!

Did you ever get to meet up with any of the people from the other thread?

Alisha

No I didn't. We pretty much either stayed to ourselves or with the other people from dh's company. Did you get to meet anyone?

Very detailed pictures!! Hope you spent time having fun too. Layout of the Windjammer seems much better then the Majesty. Room #1058 on the Majesty seems identical to yours, even the raised tub that seems like it is 3 feet deep to begin with, hehe.

Thanks for the photos.

Bon Voyage

My wife and I (along with my sister and her husband) returned this past Monday from the 3 night Sovereign cruise.

Didn't notice a sewer smell. Thought I did once but then thought it might just be reading so much about it on this site.

Food was good. I ate too much. 3 desserts each night at dinner will do something strange to a body.

I thought it was well worth the money.

One night before dinner some guys were obviously drunk and standing around waiting for the dining room to open. They were acting like fools (talking very loud, tossing out some nasty curse words at each other while various couples stood around waiting for the dining room to open.) One of them asked my wife what was for dinner tonight, I stepped in and told him if he wanted to know go read the menu posted on the outside of the dining room. He didn't say anything else. I was fully prepared to get right in his face but being drunk doesn't equal being tough - does equal being stupid though.

Other than that, a ton of fun.

The kids Compass went in just fine. But I don't see the Dailys yet. I will wait a few and if they still don't show up, I will re-post them.

I also did not notice any sewer smell.

On our cruise the Adventure Ocean told us there were only 42 kids .

I'm not sure how accurate that was, but in my daughters group, 3-5 yrs, I never saw more than 5 kids at a time.

We also had a blast. We like to hang out at the casino, and we both actually did pretty good. Only 2 Roulette tables though, and 1 of them is non-smoking.

Also don't forget about the 24 hr self-serve ice cream machine. Daughter thought that was the neatest thing. It was on the pool deck, port side, near the bar, by the entrance to the windjammer.

Will post more as I think of it.

I was standing by the door with my mother right beside those guys. I finally told the one guy to watch his mouth. Well, actually I asked him if he kissed anyone with that mouth. They had been thrown out of one of the bars right before coming to dinner. Add to this it was formal night and they were wearing flip-flops.............

Didn't let it ruin my dinner though. :-)
