Cruise in a week..need help with Atlantis!

We are a family of 5, my, my DH, and three boys. My kids really want to go to Atlantis in Nassau...through the ship it is 700.00+ for tickets. Is there a cheaper way to go there or is this it? I read about how you can rent of room at the Comfort Suites nearby and get into Atlantis, but is this easy to do? The last thing I want to do have a big hassle on our vacation. Any help is appreciated!

I posted this here instead of port of call board in hope I would get more responses.

We just got back today from the fascination. we were in nassau tues and did atlantis. We booked comfort suites online before we left. It was about the cost of 2 adults if we had gone through carnival so we got our 2 kids free. We got off the boat, took the water taxi and then walked to comfort suites. Told them we wanted to check in check out. They processed our payment and gave us two cards to take over to atlantis to get wristbands. We went across the street to atlantis, got our wristbands and did the slides all day. We had to be back on board at 530, so we left atlantis at 4, walked through the harborside shops, grabbed a ben and jerrys cone and then went back to the water taxi. You could take a taxi but you run the risk of traffic. We were back on the ship by 5 ish. I highly recommend the comfort suites route. Although it was soooo crowded. My kids had a blast though.

Thank you, this is very helpful. My problem is that I have 3 kids and I'm told I can put 5 in the room but they are not sure if I will be able to get 5 passes to Atlantis. Ugh. I'm going to have to call them, at a rate of 50 cents a minute to ask this question. :(

I did this last spring and there was five of us. We had to book through the ship. It was the only way we were guaranteed to get in and it was alot more to book comfort suites, due to the 5th person. We had a great time though

If you want to save a few extra $$$, and burn off a few calories too, consider walking to Atlantis. That's what we did this past December. It's a brisk walk, but even with my 70+ year old (but fit) parents along, we made it in around 30 minutes each way.

Yes, take a water taxi , " $30.00" over and a cab back "$35ish". Roughly $70.00 for a family of five .You will still be able to see quite a few attractions within Atlantis , interior aquarium just pass the casino ;).

If your into walking , as you leave the casino walk down the interior complex and you will find a few exit doors that are not guarded .

Same thing Carnival will charge you for :D

You only get 4 passes with a Comfort Suites Room. You can go on your own, as the others mentioned, and purchases day passes in the lobby. They do limit the number of these they sell each day, but unless there is an unusually large capacity, you would probably be able to get them. The only way to guarantee 5 passes is to purchase them through Carnival.

go on your roll call, see if there is anyone else planning on doing the day at Atlantis, especially if your child is 12 and under (free) we hooked up with another couple and there child,, all went over together checked in as 2 groups, and than said thank you and see ya on the ship... and all 5 of us had a blast!

There are 5 ships in port this day. Is that max capactiy for nassau port? I'm not afraid to get a cab to Atlantis on my own. In fact, we have always done excursions on our own and never booked through carnival. I don't want to risk not getting in, though.

I have stayed at Atlantis and cruised to Nassau many times.. That water taxi can be the pits if you have to wait for it to fill up. Taxi is so easy! The not so lazy river is the best...just keep your buttox up at the end.

If there is anyone in your group not going to slide? You only need the wrist band if you are sliding or riding the rapids. If one person is just going to sit on the water edge or watch stuff, then you are fine. They also will provide you towels. Spend Thanksgiving week there. Also. Order a kids meal. And grab some food from the comfort suites to take to Atlantis. It's about. 30 min walk to the main slides from Comfort Suite lobby.

We have been to Nassau several times on cruises and have taken a taxi over to Atlantis and enjoyed the aquarium and walking around the resort. We have not had a problem with traffic and just always made sure we left in plenty of time! Worth a trip over to see it if you haven't! :D

My suggestion before booking anything w/ anybody is to look over the direct Atlantis site for their most current terms conditions, and restrictions. You did not mention how tall or how old the kids are, and Atlantis does have restrictions based on height for the slides (most require the rider to be 48" tall & no double riders), some other water activities are based on height plus swimming ability, and then there are age restrictions on the animal & dive encounters. So even by purchasing your tickets directly in the Atlantis lobby you may not be saving anything if once your family is at the resort and can not do all the kids want to do.

Good points.

There are security guards throughout Atlantis. They DO check for those wristbands and if you do not have one, you are NOT allowed beyond the casino and public areas, certainly not sitting by the pool watching.

They stopped us several times in the morning when we were on the way to the towel hut. That is where we picked up our daily wristbands. We had to show them our Comfort Suites ID card to go any further.

So we can take a taxi/water taxi either way doesnt matter to me - but we are able to go to Atlantis and buy tickets into the aquarium/dig/casino there? if so how much did it cost? - the water park would be awesome to go to but i would really like to see the aquirum and dig.

Not sure what the price will be but enter this code: 00800590 (on significant other rate) Our room dropped down to $175 for 4 people. That will give you 4 wrist bands for the grounds and water park. It states you need the proper id to use it, but they never asked for it before. This will be our 7th time to use this code. Hope you enjoy it!!!

Yes, this is true. You can only wander around the casino/hotel areas until 5:30PMish. After that time the grounds are open to the public, but you still cannot use any of the water activities.

I didn't know that? So after 530 You can walk around the pool area?

In the winter months it's around 6pm.. in the summer closer to 7:30 /8pm when security guards leave the area.

Recently, they have been locking up the gates after 10:30 or so. So it's a short time that's it's open without guards.

This is NOT open to the public.. it's just left unguarded.
