Riviera deck pros/cons

OK we are scheduled to go on the Nov 8th cruise. I understand we will be on the Riviera deck. SO can someone tell me the pros/cons to this deck? I am wondering if I should try and upgrade to another deck. Thanks

We try stay on the Riviera deck unless we get an upgrade.

The lower the better the more stable the ride.

Only people on this deck are the ones who have cabins here.

Most stairwells end here so it is easy to find the deck. When we are higher up we keep on going past our deck.

Closer to the disembarkation area in port.

Check the deck plan and see what is above your cabin. The galley can get noisy.

I've been on the Riviera deck more than once. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Usually I do balconies, but when I have an OV, I prefer Riviera over Main.

It's quiet on Riviera, unless you happen to have noisy neighbors. There are no clubs on the deck above you. And I've never heard anything from the crew deck below.

I don't know if you have OV or IS, but they are basically all the same. No reason, IMO, to pay more for a higher deck.

I love the Riviera deck so I can sit up in the window and watch the world go by. Feels like I['m sitting on the water. The only downfall was walking up the stairs for the Muster Drill....I'm very out of shape!

I just booked yesterday in the basement midship, was offered higher under a club (higher is not always better)

Riviera is fine with my family. In fact, on SOME ships, depending on the deck plans, it's just one deck below the dining areas. Check your ship's deck plans on the Carnival website. It varies greatly, depending on the ship class.

No problem with the Riviera deck, I'll be on it again in 10 days!

I am a fan of Riviera deck also! Less motion down low. As pcvtmom said, you are only 1 or 2 decks down from public areas like dining room, showroom, casino, shops, and bars if sailing on a Spirit class ship, which are my favorite class.

I have booked a Riviera deck twice now. I like that nothing noisy is above me and the ride is smooth. This time, I also booked the cabin across from a closet type area. No neighbors across the hall. I don't mind a little noise, but I don't want to be near the anchor, azipod, or under the galley. ;)

I got a great rate on the Miracle...for Riviera deck, mid-ship (prime importance).

Promenade is right above us, so I was concerned about noise. But our cabin appears to be directly under the casino, so, unless someone hits "The Jackpot", disturbances should be minimal.

Iv only been on Riveria deck once. The con is if there are large waves hitting your window, the sea salt will be on them for the rest of the cruise, interferring with your view.

My adult son is coming with us on this cruise and he booked a gty, he was assigned cabin 1263 aft on Riviera deck. He is next to the galley and across from a dance club. Does anyone happen to know how noisy this will be? He tends to stay up very late and sleep in so I am just wondering about the galley noise in the morning.

We are going to be on the conquest. I don't mind stairs but my asthma does at times. So the drill may be a problem if we have to go to far up and I am having a problem that day. Can you not use the elevators during the muster drill? I can't remember to be honest and plus we were always on a higher deck.

In October they had the elevators blocked so you couldn't use them during the drill.

The map on your cabin door will tell you where your muster station is. Just be in the general vicinity (using the elevator) before the drill so you don't have to take the stairs.

When the drill's over, just take your time on the same deck and wait for the elevators to be turned on again.

Same here.....cabin 1230 to be exact. Loved it! Mid-ship Riviera is my preferred location. Next cruise I'm trying a Balcony cabin for the first time, so I'll get to see how I like being higher up on the ship. ;)

We recently returned from the Legend where we had a forward cabin on the Riveria deck. It was right under Satchmo's Lounge and the noise was terrible. The music went on until 1:00am. Even earplugs and sleeping pills didn't help that much. I'm sure it depends on the ship and it's floor plan, so pay attention to what's on the deck above. :mad:

I just booked Rivera deck on Paradise. I wanted to save some money so I got a 6A. Rivera aft. I agree it makes no sense to pay more for the same room. ( But I have and, will pay more for a suite.)

I agree with KenMo you can always go to the muster station early. I did not need to by on my last cruise my mobility impared uncle did.

Across from a dance club? As far as I know, none of the clubs on any of Carnival's ships are located on the Riviera deck. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty confident in my answer. :)

I'm pretty sure the Riviera decks have only rooms. I've never seen anything else on that level.

The OP is talking about Riviera deck on a Conquest class ship....which is not the same as the Riviera deck on a Spirit class ship.

The Spirit class ships have a two-level nightclub. The lower level is on the Riviera deck.

My first cruise was 8 years ago on RC Sov. of the Seas. I don't even remember what deck we were on. Three years ago, we were on the R deck on the Fantasy, last year it was the E deck, and this year we booked the Veranda deck because we thought it would be more convienent. We love to relax by the pool on that deck. Now I'm worried about the movement. Will we be able to tell a huge difference this year?:confused:

I had cabin 1265 on the Miracle, which is across the hall from your son's room and is right next to the galley door. It thought it was a great location. You couldn't hear the disco at all, even from the hallway right next to the wall. I heard no noise from the galley itself, but you could hear the galley door open and close from time to time. It wasn't loud enough to wake me, but if I was lying awake and it was quiet you could hear it.

The good part about those cabins is how close they are to the rear elevators, which are the least busy ones. The middle elevators are the most busy and the forward elevator often have kids coming and going from Camp Carnival pushing all the buttons.

I'd go back to that cabin location in a second if offered.

No, Toni is right. The disco on Spirit Class ships has an interior stairway that goes down to the dance floor on the Riviera deck. This deck plan shows it on the Miracle:

There is no entrance or exit to the disco on the Riviera deck, only on the Promenade deck, but the disco does go down to the Riveria.

Yep. Folks forget that the Spirit-class ships are a totally different design. Just have a look at the deck plans.

The soundproofing is very good, though.
