CARNIVAL TESTING NEW ALL-INCLUSIVE BEVERAGE PROGRAM ON CARNIVAL VICTORY

Carnival Cruise Lines began testing a new all-inclusive beverage program aboard the Carnival Victory starting with the ship’s Aug. 5 departure.

Under the “My Awesome Bar Program,” guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer, and spirits, along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails, throughout the voyage at one convenient, flat rate. All wines by the glass, beer and individual cocktails priced $10 and lower are available within the program. Full bottles of wine and champagne, as well as wines by the glass, beers and individual cocktails priced above $10, are available at a 25 percent discount.

Guests can sign up for the “My Awesome Bar Program” at Carnival Victory’s atrium and casino bars, as well as a bar within the main pool area. Each guest aged 21 years and over in the same stateroom must purchase the beverage package. Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol on Carnival ships.

The cost for program is $42.95 per person per day, plus a 15 percent gratuity.

Now i will probably not do it on this cruise since we are in ports 5 of the 6 full days , maybe on a different 7 day cruise I would , But I did the math and if i get 2 bottles from Bon Voayge = $100 and get some cokes and waters in San Juan = 20 , WELL THIS PROGRAM WOULD COST ME $700 for myself and my fiance , Well with doing the above math i still have over $500 left for other drinks.

I would like to hear other peoples thoughts on the program

Why they choose a port intensive ship to test it on is beyond me, unless Carnival wants it to fail. That way they can say they tried it and it didn't work.

Hopefully they offer this on all of their ships in the near future. :) I've been on a couple cruises with the open bar package (and booked on two more) and it's great not having to worry about your bar bill.

I'd love this option. And we seldom get off the ship!!

I just looked at our last Cruise on the splendor and we spent $350 on booze for the cruise , we did bring in Rum and vodka as well , I just don't know if we would get our money's worth. Now we are sailing with 2 different couples on this next cruise I am wondering how we can share the cost , Because if you get 15 drinks per person that's a total of 30 drinks total per day , but maybe its more of a hassle like at dinner , I am sure you can only order 1 drink at a time per person.

A quick google search should help you find a group with one of these cruises. I was pleasantly surprised to find an open bar cruise on the Oasis for April. :D

It's a good option for those who drink alot.

The DH and I never drink anywhere near the amount it would take to make it worth nearly $700.

At that price I'll talk to them all day! :)

Would jump on it our bar bill for a 5 day runs 100.00 per day so we would save plus you would be able to know exactly what to budget.

DW and I would be horizontal the majority of the time if we tried to get our moneys worth at this.

Same goes for me. I believe it would be good for some but I would not buy it. The reason being is that I could not get my monies worth. We are beer drinkers and drink Fosters. So to even get the $100 a day worth of Fosters and break even we would have to buy 15 can of Fosters (equal to 2 beers each can) a day. :eek::eek: That would be way to much beer for us just to break even.

Like I said ... it will be good for some though, just not us.

I would like to try this option actually. My one concern though would be the promptness of service.

Drink service in the dining room is really slow. That's why I purchase the wine packages. If they delivered by the glass and not the bottle, would I still get 2-3 glasses of wine with my dinner?

Also, in the casino I normally purchase double captain and cokes in a tall glass. Would this be allowed or will I be waiting for service for each and every single.

I can't wait to what others say about the package and the service they recieved with it. Until then I will to buy from Bon Voyage and purchase the wine packages to be assured I can get my drink when I want it, not when they get around to it.

Im not sure that it would include call liquor, but it would be 25% off for those drinks right??

42.XX plus 15% tip .. thats over $100 for two in a cabin and the drinks are still not all free, only the drinks allowed are included.

Actually the way i see it they are trying to minimize losses on the trial. They expect that this itinerary, which is port heavy, would expect to have the least number of people actually taking full advantage of the limit. Or, whoever is pushing it is either trying to show the highest profit margin per purchase, or lowest purchases, who knows.

I just wish they decided to try it on the triumph in 2 weeks. I'd love to help them 'test it out'...

yes from what we read...from what I saw our last cruise. However, alcohol and high seas does not MIX on any cruise line, and guaranteed to have issues on other that have this....if other do not already offer it.

Maybe they will only offer this program to Platinum Cruisers? LOL

I think they meant surprised they pick this cruise since its so port intensive. 5 ports in 6 days. Instead of trying on what some people call a normal 7 day cruise with 3 ports in 6 days

Firefly, perhaps you could explain that statement?

For DH and I, this would never work. DH may get his money worth out of the program for ONE DAY, but to for the week, and I typically have one frozen fruity drink per day, maybe two on sea days! Or maybe none at all. Last cruise without DH my bar bill for the week was about $50. I understand that you cannot do it for just one person in the cabin, but we wouldn't do it for the two of us. I could see taking our two kids along (19 & 22) and having dd(19) registered in the room with him so we could get it for only DH.

Now SIL and BIL? They could more than get their money's worth!
