Which sea days are considered scenic cruising?

I am considering a Sun Princess cruise from Sydney to New Zealand and it is listed as Sydney (Day 1), Cruising the Tasman Sea (Days 2, 3, and 4) and arriving in Milford Sound (Day 5 -7am-4pm), then on to Dunedin (Day 6, 9am-6pm). It then goes on to a different port each of the remaining days (Christchurch, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga, Auckland, Bay of Islands) and then 2 more days at sea (cruising the Tasman) back to Sydney.

For those who have taken a similar itinerary, when exactly is the scenic crusing around the fjords? In addition, are any of the sea days before Milford Sound and/or after Bay of Islands particularly more scenic than others?

Thanks!

Hi,

We did some great extra scenic cruising between Auckland and Tauranga on HAL Statendam.

We passed by 'Hole in the Wall' rock which was good, and visited White Island, which was fantastic. White Island is an active volcano.

Cheers,

Steve.
