Deep Sea Fishing

For anyone who has done the Deep Sea Fishing tour through Carnival, do you enter the boat from the water or from a pier? My husband saw an excursion leaving several years ago where the guys were climbing onto the boats from waste deep water. Just wondering for my Dad's sake. He's in pretty good shape but would not be able to climb aboard on his own. I would think some type of safety precaution would be added to the tour description if there could possibly be physical limitations to board. But wanted to see if anyone has first hand experience with it. Thanks!

There's a small excursion dock to the right of the main pier. I would assume Carnival/cruise ship deep sea fishing excursions would use that one. The snorkeling tours do. What your husband probably saw was Papa J's boat. He operates (ed) off the beach by the old Local Village place. And you had to climb on board from the water. If you go private with Screaming Reels, they have their own dock away from the cruise center.
