Beware of NCL false advertising

It says nothing about a driving range. It shows "golf" so that is the golf nets. Get real where would you find a driving range on a ship?

JMO, but if OP was on the Breakaway (per his "one port only" statement) maybe he's confused because NCL calls it a "driving range"? :)

Driving Ranges

You may find it difficult to practice your swing in our netted driving range because the ocean views can be very distracting! Check with the reception desk for where to get your bucket of balls and clubs.

So the question is this... Is this particular driving range that NCL advertises in fact on the Breakaway?

I am sure that most cruise lines have a liability clause in their T&Cs that give then a get out

I have however seen a golf driving range on a ship and it was the RCCL Independence of the Seas so if the OP is looking for one, give them a try

On Deck 13 it has listed a "golf simulator", not to be confused with real golf, not a driving range, is right next to 9 hole miniature golf. There is a 13 nighter going from Florida to UK on 5/4/14 with prices starting at $649/cruiser. A lot of sea time to simulate golf, sounds like a winner, OP.

We recently went on a Norwegian Cruise and booked the particular cruise ship because Norwegian advertised that they had a golf driving range on board. We were on a 7 day cruise most of which was out at sea with only 1 port so what one could do on the boat was pretty important. The driving range was a key item for us choosing this cruise ship. There was no driving range on the ship at all. I tried to dispute the charges as I felt like I was subject to bait and switch and Norwegian's response stated clearly that they shall not be obligated to honor any booking resulting from misprints or errors of any kind, whether in brochures, advertisements on the Internet ... So beware of NCL because if they advertise certain activities on the ship you are not guaranteed that those activities are actually on that particular ship. It's like advertising a swimming pool but then there isn't one when you board the ship .. may upset a few people who enjoy lying by the pool or taking a swim.

If I can't get any justice from Norwegian then maybe the law will help out as bait and switch is illegal in many states. Wish me luck!

Some of their ships do have driving ranges, did the ad say all of their ships? I can't believe anyone would base their cruise line choice on a driving range and I don't remember any 7 day cruises with only one port. I think we have poster just having fun right now or seeing if he/she can stir up a new debate...Thanks OP, but it doesn't look like it is working to your advantage. Could you come back today and tell us what was bait and switch about this?

I suppose if you like hitting golf balls, at sea would be an awesome place to do so. He's entitled. As a travel agent I ask you this? Has NCL ever advertised that they have a driving range on any of their ships? I have never seen this but since you must see a lot more brochures, ads etc. you might know the answer.

I have no problem with him hitting his golf balls into the sea as long as he is willing to pick them up afterwards and not pollute the ocean. (Same for smokers who can't use ashtrays.)

The reason NCL doesn't have driving range off fantail is they couldn't get any of the crew to volunteer to swim behind the ship to shag golf balls.

The mind blowing thing about this is there are two gorgeous courses in Bermuda where he could get in at least three rounds.

I also remember seeing the "old-timey" ads about skeet shooting. I think that stopped after PETA complained about the devastation of the skeet population.

Is that new? I was on Independence and I only remember there being mini golf. I hope you are not trying to pull a bait and switch right now with your post!

This "the law will help out as bait and switch is illegal" is so totally out of line!

Too bad that badcruising hasn't told us what ship he was on, maybe that would be helpful to anyone else who's cruise would be ruined without a driving range.

I don't even know why you'd go on a cruise if you wanted to hit balls, there's lots of places to do that around. As far as golf goes, well there are so many courses around here, I couldn't even count them, nevermind play them.

The last time I played golf I think it was with Tiger Woods, around 1999/2000, somewhere around there and I beat him every time..... of course it was on MY computer... :p

badcrusing's complaint is minor compared to mine. I chose NCL specifically due to their brochures. The brochures showed young, vibrant, well dressed people. Yet when I was on the ship all I saw were people like me, bald, overweight men in loud Hawaiian shirts. The brochure showed happy people in the casino. Obviously they were happy because they were winning. (Is anyone happy because they are not winning?) Yet when I gambled, I did not win. I don't even want to talk about the pool. When I was at the pool I did not sit beside a gorgeous young blond who was totally into me. When I did meet a gorgeous young blond and attempted to strike up a conversation I heard such words as "I'm calling security" and "Restraining Order". Please contact me if anyone is interested in joining my class action suit.

I'm in.

The brochure also makes it look like all the lounge chairs are in perfectly straight lines. That is total BS...ruined my fun.

I know  so disappointing!! And look at all the company he would have had, I mean really, I didn't see any young, cute looking guys to snuggle with either so, what's up with that?

Could have ended up being a significant haul for us all too. :D
