Default After final payment.... do you get credit for price drop?

Hello all.... wondering if we would get a credit after final payment on our April cruise... which dropped approx. $100pp. I just emailed princess agent. But I knew someone here would know. Thanks

I have read that the difference would be given in shipboard credit. I do not have experience with this situation myself though. No travel agent involved?

Since it is after final payment, I think it depends on whether the lower price is specifically for new bookings.
Please let us know how you made out.

The more common answer is no. Most drops after final payment are flash sales for new bookings only designed to fill the ship, payment in full at booking.

That said, Princess has been known to issue an OBC depending on type of deal.

I believe we are doing the same cruise...

Our TA has our booking on hold until Princess receives the payment from our TA, so when I noticed the drop last night, I emailed her to give them a call to check. She plans to and will let me know how it goes... would be great as since we're delayed with the booking, we didn't get our flights at the lower price, so this will help towards the cost of the flights.

Yes, do let us know what you find out too!

I was able to get a price drop after final payment for my cruise a few weeks ago. Princess put it back on my credit card.

Princess travel gal.... just called and it was credited back to my credit card! $240.... but the upgrade was taken back no biggie.... was just another inside! So we are back to a guarantee inside.

Well, I guess that's good news. lol So you still do not know exactly which stateroom you have because of the GTY... maybe you'll luck out. Looks like it's not selling very well right now but still 60 days to go...

Well that was quick.... got an upgrade notice.... Riviera deck... but all the way forward. Wondering if what looks like a deck all the way forward is???

If you were upgraded to another inside I would call and request to be put back on "guarantee". A lot can happen in 60 days. I think the better upgrades occur in the last 2 or 3 weeks before sailing.

Congrats on receiving the price drop!!

I think it really depends upon your TAs relationship with Princess and how much they are prepared to go to bat for you. In our case our TA has got us a OBCs, it's never been 100 cents on the dollar but pretty close and we have been happy with it.

I'm on the Crown TA this Spring and the price dropped on the inside cabin I'd purchased for my daughter about one week after final payment - I have an aft balcony which actually went up in price. Princess refunded my credit card $438 (two persons, $219 each) on the cabin that went down, and left my balcony cost the same (no change there). Kind of nice for us in that it works in our favor even though technically, one would think Princess would lok at both sides if you have two or more cabins and maybe only provide the difference. Another reason to love Princess.

Today I got $777 back (total for 2 people) from a price drop on a transatlantic cruise in April; this is about 20 days after final payment. The fare decrease did not require a new booking.

Read the small print when there's a new promotion or new pricing. If it doesn't say, "For new bookings only" then most likely, you'll get a credit back on the credit card you used for the final payment. That is Princess' most common M.O.

In some cases, you'll get an OBC if you qualify for the new rates or a cabin upgrade (if you prefer that), but generally, they refund money to the last used credit card.

You probably can get the difference back if you bought Princess Insurance .
My PVP said because I have Princess Platinum insurance I would get a price drop right up to 24 hrs before sailing. If basic insurance the PVP's have some discretion .
