What I gathered was the testifier and her cabinmate bailed. They had the balcony. The OP and her cabinmate went and stayed in their A1 cabin. I think that's what happened.

I think the OP went on the cruise. We'll have to wait to hear "the rest of the story".

Hi all. I did go on the cruise and my sister and her cabin mate did not. She bailed simply because my sister couldn't go. My sister did testify in court this past weeks and her 8C cabin was canceled. I did ask if I could have her cabin since I had booked it for her (a long shot, I know) . I was not able to have it but I was given an upgrade from my 1A with portholes to a 4J and given my request to switch dinner times even though the maitre'd had already said it was not possible. My sister and her cabin mate did lose all their money but I think maybe their port fees will be given back?

Thanks for the input and ultimately, the lesson here is to buy travel insurance!!!

So glad you reported back. I buy insurance now though it seems like a waste if you don't have to use it. But one never knows when that time will be, as proven in this situation that had a great deal of money involved. Insurance also covers other things, not just missing your ship.

most judges are going to be forgiving considering its not like she knew she was going to be called (or she wouldn't have been served). she needs a good lawyer who has the ability and the standing with the courthouse to contact the presiding judge TODAY. it happens. i know this for a fact. she can give proof of the trip, and the duration and they can reschedule her for when she gets back.

At 83$ for 2 of us, insurance is a good deal. Protects from illness, accident all sorts of things that might happen. What a shame to add losing all that $$ to it. Silver lining would be taking your cruise later after things were all worked out. We don't cruise without it.

The trip is over. She did not go and lost all of her money.
