Q for the Southampton locals

Whats the easiest way to get from the high street down to the travel lodge behind West Quay on Harbour Parade? (Myself and friends are in different hotels).

I used to just walk down Bargate Street and through the pedestrian underpass next to M&S but with all the building work going on that looks to be closed.

Stupid boy. I meant Premier Inn of course.

Head to the Juniper Berry pub on Castle Square (in the old part of the city) and follow the lane down the side of the pub, this will bring you out onto the old city walls, overlooking the big building site. Head to the left (behind the pub) and this will take you through some metal gates and down some steps to the old Western Esplanade, from where you can then walk through the car park for The Quays diving centre and this will bring you out at the roundabout in front of the Premier Inn.

Edit: I'm not sure if they lock the gates at night but if they do then there are various other alleyways leading from Bugle Street down to Western Esplanade
