Ships we've sailed that no longer exist.

We went onto a little island where vendors were spread out on blankets selling embrodried blouses and all kinds of hand work.

It was a most interesting trip. I am so sorry to see the ship sunk! She was a beauty and I would love to find another ship like that one for a really nice cruise rather than the now 'shorts and flip flop' type cruises being offered with so many on board! Sigh for the good old days.

Amen!

Interesting. What's she sailing as now? One of the best things about CC is the great collective knowledge

According to Wikipedia (For what it's worth), she is sailing as the MS Henna for HNA Tourism out of China. She previously sailed as the Pacific Sun for P & O Australia from 2004-2012

I found the website. The public rooms have the same names at least on the deck plans. It seems strange that there are only a few rooms with balconies.

Funny i found this and the last few recent posts are of/about the Jubilee!! that was my very first cruise and had me hooked ever since!! Sailed on her January 16-20, 2003. I actually performed on stage during the cruise, along with the group i was with! it was a great privilege to be invited to do so!

11 years later, i took my 2nd cruise. And let me tell you, it was no easy task getting my past cruise recognition and a VIFP#!! took me 3 different Carnival reps, 1 telling me there was no way i cruised on the Jubilee because it was retired and there was nothing they could do to help me, despite me telling him i had pictures to prove it with the big blue letters JUBILEE on the ship.

Not really. When the Jubilee, Holiday, Celebration, and the Fantasy class ships were designed in the 1980's, generally only the best suites had balconies, if even at all.

You're right they were suites and were near the top of the ship. I should have been less generic.

We travelled on the Nordic Empress twice. Loved it.

Our first cruise was on the Nordic Empress. We loved it also. That was before sea pass cards. Everything was paid in cash.

I just hate it when ships are scraped.

Sounds like fingernails on a blackboard.

Princess has a trip from Tahati to Hawaii that stops on Christmas Island (Karabuta, there are 2 Christmas Islands) It is not much of a port but there have these type of things on land. It is not developed, but a great Cultural expierence. It is a cresent shaped island. A lot of people did not like it, but I found it a great time. It reminded me of the africian villages you see in the adds. Very poor. No public electricity. Many people still living in huts. It was where the British had their HQ will doing atomic testing in the Pacific. You still see some quanset huts that have been taken over. Much more.

But under different names.

Correct--but the ships are still around. They may have changed a bit over the years. I may have misinterpreted the original thought behind this thread. I was under the impression we were discussing ships that no longer are in existence at all.
