Hotel Andra in Seattle

Has anyone stayed here? What did you think? I read some good reviews but would like to hear some CC reviews. Is the Italian restaurant Assaggio Ristorante next door to the hotel good? Anything you can tell me about the hotel will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have toured the hotel, but never stayed. The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms are nice. I have never eaten at the Assaggio Ristorante, but I have at Lola's located in the hotel (http://tomdouglas.com/) and it was very good. There is construction (a new building going in) on the south side of the hotel so if you do stay there maybe ask for a room facing west. The hotel is 3 blocks from shopping, 6 blocks from The Pike Place Market and about a mile from the Seattle Center. There is a small grocery/deli store a block away. The airporter bus stops a block north at the Warwick.

I just found out that I will be going to lunch at Assaggio Ristorante on Tuesday of next week, so I will let you know what I think. I have heard the food is very good.

Assagio is a fairly run of the mill Italian restaurant. Be very careful when ordering the specials. They tend to tell you what they are but not how much which turned a simple pasta dish into a $36 entree. Not worth it.

Eat at Lola. My favorite restaruant in Seattle. The menu is new Greek and outstanding. We are eating there next Sunday night with a bunch of CC friends and had breakfast there this AM. You will love it.

If you want quintessential Seattle, try the Dahlia Lounge (across the street and also a Tom Douglas restaurant) which is the restaurant Tom Hanks took his date to in Sleepless (original location). Food there is outstanding but a little more expensive than Lola.

If you want a quick bite try Serious Pie (Tom Douglas's take on pizza) which is right behind Dahlia Lounge. Can you tell I love Tom's food.

The hotel is very nice and Lola is available for room service.

I went to Assaggio Ristorante today for lunch and I thought it was okay. The portions were on the small size, one of my coworkers had a salmon special and he was very disappointment with the serving size, I had spaghetti. Everyone thought the food was okay. I thought Lola was a better meal (I had prawns). There are plenty of really good restaurants in downtown Seattle, what types of food do you like? I can get you some websites and you can view some menus, let me know if you are interested??

One thing I did notice on your sail date (June 2nd) it is the first day of the Pike Place Market Street Fair. You may want to take a walk over in the am before you go to the ship?? I think it starts at around 11am. The forecast for Seattle this week is very nice, today was 80 and it will be in the high 70's this weekend.

I have seen the menu for Lola and the shrimp skewer looks good and those dips. Do you know which dip is the best? I have never eaten greek food. I just tried a greek salad last week and loved it. I really just don't know what to order.

We like all kinds of food and I notice that the owner of Lola has restaurants all around where we are staying but none really looked good to us except for the Lola.

We like mexican, seafood, italian, chinese, and american.. I guess thats everything but greek. lol.. We are willing to try anything once. Any menu links you have would be great. You will be getting in at a great time. You will just miss the morning work rush. Try to check in to the hotel early, hopefully they will have a room ready, if not leave your luggage with the bell man and go explore, because as I said the weather will be wonderful.

Right now many of the Seattle area restaurants that have seafood have copper river salmon in. Not cheap, but it is good.

Wow thank you so much !! This should keep me busy for awhile.. Do you know if you are allowed to take on cheese, fruits and flowers on the ship? I would love to buy some of these but If I can't, I can the day we come back from the ship.. Our flight home is at 5:00 pm so will have all day to shop.. Sure hope the plane don't mind my food in my carryon bag. :)

Not sure about the ship (I have never taken an Alaskan cruise), but I know it is okay to bring solid food on the airplane, just NO liquids.

I would also check with the concierge at your hotel to see what recommendations can be made.

One other thing, many of the downtown street in Seattle are hilly, so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.

We also have a great bus system which you can access from the water taxi website. Free ride area in downtown Seattle during certain hours.

Hi there..I just wanted to thank you again for all the info you have put here, I think we have decided to do lunch at the pikes market. Either crepes or soup and sandwiches. For dinner we are choosing Lola and trying these 2 spreads. Roasted sweet hot red pepper

Cow’s milk yogurt tzatziki, We will have a prawn kebob and a greek salad; Breakfast the final morning will be at Dahlia bakery.. Sounds like we are set.. Thanks again for all of your help.:)

You have chosen well. You will LOVE Lola. Ask if you can get Brian as your waiter. He is outstanding.

And be adventurous. Try the goat. It is to die for. :eek:

But seriously, you can't go wrong with anything at Lola or at Dahlia's bakery. Enjoy.

The Coconut Cream Pie at the bakery is the best. They even have single servings.
