Deck 8 Room Question on Vision of the Seas

Perki

Recommended Posts

Since these rooms are directly below the pool deck I was wondering if one can hear the chairs and traffic on the roof of these rooms? Considering upgrading from D1 Balcony Deck 7 to Jr Suite Deck 8 but not if noise is going to be a factor - wouldn't want my hubby's afternoon nap to be spoiled (tee hee) Any help from anyone that has stayed on this class of ship on this deck is appreciated. icon_biggrin.gif

Perki,

We just got back on Sunday from cruising on the Vision. We were on Deck 7 in an aft balcony cabin. Directly below us was the Some Enchanted Evening Lounge, and every evening we could hear music from the lounge, it was faint but we could still hear it. I have heard of people who have been under the pool deck and Windjammer and have heard chairs scraping above them.

In one word...YES! We had a cat. C-

cabin # 8556 for our Alaska cruise, we heard chairs being moved all hours.

We could also hear the solarium cafe windows being slammed shut at times icon_eek.gif But we loved the jr. suite and balcony.

Thanks for the heads up, by the way what is the Solarium Cafe I take it it is different from the Windjammer? What types of things do they serve and what hours? Thanks!

We had an aft cat. C under the spa. Very quiet and it also smelled wonderful! Eucalyptus ...........I loved it. If you can find anything toward the aft under the spa, you should be fine. Big differance between Cat.C and Cat. D. Go for it!

The Solarium cafe for our Alaska sailing had: Hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and a few other nibbles. We enjoyed it as a alternative from the Windjammer. The hours will vary between port and sea days. This was 2 years ago, things are likley to have changed.

Hmmmm....now I am worried. I am going to be sailing Nov 28th on the Visions of the Seas on Deck 8 - Cat. J - inside cabin 8519. I like to relax and nap in the afternoons on my holidays. Will the noise from the pool deck above be that bad? Will it be noisy at night too?? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Perki,

The Solarium Cafe is open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and then again from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. They serve pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs and fries. There is also a bar in the Solarium that is open until 7:00 and they serve all drinks plus smoothies. I wish the bar in the Solarium would have been open a little later. We grabbed burgers there one night for dinner around 9:00 and had to go out and get drinks somewhere else. I never tried the pizza, but the burgers are good. My DH and DD both ate hotdogs and said they were good also.

Thanks AmySP, sounds like the place my hubby & I were looking for! We always do late seating dinner so like to have a 'snack' around 4 or 5 to tie us over - no wonder we gain so much weight! But we always have and love the pizza on cruises, don't know if it is really that good or if everything is good while on a cruise! Thanks again!

Perki,

Are you sailing 4/25? Hubby and I are looking to meet fellow cruisers and make new friends. We are completely harmless and ready to relax with Margarita in hand in the Solarium or at the Schooner Bar. We're on Deck 8 (across from Royal Family Suite right beneath the main pool). I know of someone else cruising then, but they said they'd be to shy to knock on our door. Guess I'll have to catch her on the dance floor!

Inside deck 8 cabins don't hear as much noise as the Cat Cs since you are getting some of the noise from the "outside".

Having said that, I loved our Cat C, but would probably try not to pick one under the pool area again. Aft or forward would be better.

AprilRN, we are on the 4/25 sailing, by your profile looks like we are in the same age range, my hubby just turned 38 in March and I will turn 38 right after we return. Be happy to meet ya, email me at lacrist@martinharris.com and we can make plans! We are just relaxing and beveraging as well on this cruise, beers, sit by the pool all day (even when in port except Puerto Vallarta where we plan to go to Krystal Vallarta and sit by their pool and drink) watch karaoke at night and gain our usual 10lbs! icon_biggrin.gif
