help please!!! canal tour in Dec 2015 - expansion update

We are looking at a PC cruise in Dec 2015, and I was asked about the status of the expansion.

Does anyone have any updates about the expansion? If it is close to being finished, might we want to go earlier in the year?

Work is to be completed by December 2015 with operations to begin in January 2016 was the last I heard in July. I have not heard any rumblings to the contrary. Just an FYI, the Atlantic Locks are scheduled to be finished a number of months before the rest of the project, they will use that period to develop procedures etc. and get hands on training. I don't know how that fits into your plans if your were planning to visit the Atlantic Locks as they may be ready by Summer 2015.

What I was trying to point out is if you go in December 2015 the Canal Expansion will largely be completed. I am just not sure if your intent is to see the construction or whether your wish to see the nearly completed project. In any event going in December '15 for all practical purposes the Expansion will be complete.
