Default Stand by cruising....?

Recently, someone mentioned that if you just show up early at a port, the embarkation desk will sell any unsold cabins on behalf of the cruise line. They said that the price was considerably lower....anyone know if this is something they actually do????

Ships cruise so full these days that it's unlikely that there are unsold cabins.
If there are unsold cabins you'll have to go thru the main sales office . The employees that do embarkation don't handle any cash.

I've read that that practice used to happen but with new rules and regulations it doesn't anymore. I do know some people try to negotiate an upsell when they get to port if anything is available.

Default Ain't going to happen

The law requires that cruise lines submit their passanger manifests prior to sail date. I may have this wrong but I think I read it is 3 days early for ships leaving US ports. I do however know it is not the day of the cruise.
