Northbound cruise - port side is better?

We are booking a one-way northbound cruise from Vancouver to Whittler for my elderly parents. While I understand it doesn't matter overall if you choose either side, we are booking a balcony room and wanted to choose the best for them (for same room category and location). Here's what I understand after reading many threads, does anyone have any other point to add? Thanks a lot!

Port side is better overall because:

- when going inside Glacier Bay and College Fjord, most commentary from rangers and scenery is on the port side. Although the captain will turn the ship, the port side is still better for this part.

- great sunset

- photo from balcony is better, ref: http://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/showthread.php?t=2407746
