Mariner deck 7 suites

Getting ready to book and we're looking at G category on deck 7. Anyone have any pros or cons on particular suites or location on this deck? Also, pros or cons to a suite with bathtub or with shower only?

Appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks!

Just disembarked the Mariner this morning. The only possible negative on Deck 7 is the possible traffic going back and forth to the Boutique. While not a big deal, it is something to be aware of.

To me, the bathtub vs. shower is a big deal. The bathtubs are large (good thing) but have low ceilings (not a good thing -- especially if you are tall). Also, they are difficult to get out of -- whether or not you have a disability. The showers are large, modern and lovely.

It say Ditto.... The shower is what you want on Mariner. You will love this ship and Regent, beware cruising with Regent is absolutely habit forming!

You don't mention the date of your cruise. Beginning Dec. 20, 2013, the suite categories on deck 7 are changing. Suites 730 - 741 are changing to F category suites.

After one Mariner cruise in a suite with a tub, which I didn't like, I always book suites with a shower only. Suite numbers ending in one through six indicate shower only suites.

If your cruise is before Dec. 20, 2013, I recommend booking 732 - 736 if available. I'm in 734 on my September - October cruises so I'm putting my money where my mouth is. :D My second choice would be 741 - 746. From Dec. 20, 2013, I recommend 742 -746. I sincerely doubt traffic going to and from the boutique will be a problem. In any event, the boutique closes no later than 10 pm.

If you are 6' or taller the shower over tub arrangement will be uncomfortable, as well as being difficult to get in and out of. We have been on Mariner with both kinds of accommodations and much prefer the shower, which is roomy and has a bench that allows for seated foot washing etc. as well as convenient placement of toiletries etc.

I vote for the shower only cabins too . . . .

I won't book Mariner if I can't have the walk in shower.

Don't count on it. Not many of those left.

About 40% of the suites on the Mariner have tubs. Suite numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 or 0 indicate suites with tubs.

Two of our three Mariner cruises were 0n Deck 7, starboard. On one we were in the cabin next to the Boutique (#741, I think). Not a problem at all. No noise from either the Boutique or the casino (the stairs in the Casino made a quick way to Coffee Connection and I loved having easy access to the gym. We didn't like the tub/shower and won't sail the Mariner again unless we have a walk-in shower (too difficult for us short people getting in and out of the high tub).

Have been on deck 7 a few times and never a problem about the close proximity to the boutique.

The internet signal is spotty in several cabins towards the rear of the ship on Deck 7

They are scheduled to update this soon but if internet use in your cabin is important I would book a fwd cabin. The shower only suites are terrific.

We never had Internet trouble on deck 7 and we had the cabin on far back corner, can't get any further back on Mariner (a Seven Seas Aft Suite). So likely the Internet speed and connection changes possibly based on where in the world Mariner might be on a particular cruise. I never had Internet trouble, but had best service by using Internet very late at night.

This is incorrect. I was just on the ship and had lengthy talks with the systems fols. There are certain cabins in the aft portion of the ship that do not receive good signals. Please note I did not state all cabins hence the validity of your different experience but several cabins in the rear do not pick up strong signals. This is a known issue confirmed by several who also did the South America Circle. It has nothing to do with region but rather how the signal is carried in the ship

Tallship I was not in any way disputing what you posted. I just had a different experience and thought it might be due to where in the world Mariner might be.

I will also say that your experience is very recent, while my experience was 12 months ago.

However, all that aside Internet connection can be a crap shoot but I never ever had trouble when using the Internet late at night.

No offense taken nor intended...just need to provide the most reliable information for newcomers. I was very fortunate to be able to switch cabins or I would have been very unhappy. As I stated above they are committed to upgrading the signal strength very soon and hopefully that will resolve matters. We are booking again for likely Sept-Oct and next April without worries.
