Hello! Last ear we had a wonderful beach break excursion in costa maya. We went to maya chan, which is a day resort that caps at 100 ppl each day. For $60 pp we had transportation, lunch, all,you can drink. A private cabana, chairs, floats, sand castle contest for the kids Etc. it was PERFECT. Is there anything similar st Thomas? We want to avoid the super crowded beaches. Thanks!

We've been to Costa Maya and there is nothing on STT similar. Here you will find the East End beaches are the nicest including Coki, Sapphire, and Secret Harbor. Coki is a livelier public beach with several vendors, while Sapphire and Secret Harbor are home to condo resorts and both have a dive center renting chairs, etc and food and drink options. We consider Sapphire the nicest beach on STT with Coki and SH tied for 2nd. We'd hit Paradise POint for cocktails (Bailey's BUshwacker perhaps) and the view before returning to the ship.

Some ppl like Magens Bay which is nice but it attracts more ppl and doesn't have the character of the East End beaches, at least in my opinion.

Other than that Lindbergh Bay (aka Emerald Beach) is a nice enough beach close to Crown Bay where you can rent and eat.

Here's a map to orient you -

Shoobie: In some countries, the resorts are allowed to limit access to their beaches. Not so in many others, like the USVI. So you can listen to blue_water here and go with Sapphire or Coki.

P.S. If there was a beach that had all those things, it would be super crowded. ;)

The beaches in Costa Maya are open to the public as well, maya chan and other restaurants there just have the area immediately adjacent to their place identified as their property and they charge an AI fee that includes drinks and food for the time there. They all get pretty crowded, and we prefer Steve's place because there's no fee to reserve chairs and tables, and the water there is also clean. But it's just a matter of preference.

On STT the choices are similar but different :p Similar in that you can enjoy a nice beach with amenities along with everyone else there, but you can't reserve a spot and pay one AI fee.

I know this is a cruise board, but in general, St Thomas is not an all-inclusive type of place. There are a couple of hotels that have an all-inclusive option, but it definitely isn't like Mexico where you never leave your resort. Too many fun things to do, too many good places to eat and drink on St Thomas.

Be like blue_water and come experience the "funness" for a longer stay!:D
