Question(s) Ease of getting in and out of Julia St. Pier...

We utilize Mobility Scooters and plan on this being our main mode of transportation. This is our first time in NO and we would like to get out and about on the scooters as much as we can.

Our ship will be docked in town (for 3 days) during Jazz Fest, April 2017 and I was wondering how easy and/or difficult it is to get out for the port/pier area and just go and explore NO. Though we would love to attend the festival, I am not one for large crowds. DH and I just loved the idea of 3 days in NO so we jumped on board.

Would love to know if there is a nice bar and/or restaurant that has great music/jazz that we could get to in evening, not too far from pier so we can enjoy.

I also understand that there is a ferry. Anyone know if scooters are able to board this vessel to get to the other side of the river? If so, is there anywhere anyone would recommend visiting on that side?

Also, other than Harrah's, are there other locations that offer gaming in NO?

Any suggestions are welcomed. I have already contacted a walking tour company to see if we can partake in any of their tours and was informed yes that we could. But I do like to explore a bit on my own as well.

There are some great restaurants in the Warehouse District, an area just across Convention Center Blvd. from the Julia Street terminal. The local food critic:

lists restaurants by neighborhood (look for Warehouse District) with his ratings. Most have web sites with menus and prices, but most don't offer live music. Mulate's, on Julia Street and Convention Center Blvd. has Cajun bands on most nights.

A little further away is one of our favorite music clubs, Kerry Irish Pub. They feature local musicians, starting at 5:00 p.m. Next door is a little restaurant called Evangeline, that we like a lot.

The best music clubs (some serving food) are on Frenchmen Street, but that is about 16 blocks away from the terminal. If you can get your scooters on the riverfront streetcar, that will take you most of the way.

The ferry can accommodate scooters.There is a separate entrance for these and bicycles, wheelchairs, etc. Just follow the signs. There isn't a lot to see on the other side, but the views of the city are beautiful. When you get off the ferry your will see a restaurant/bar called the Drydock Cafe, with pretty good deafood.

Harrah's is the only casino in town.
