Waikiki Beach Saturday & Sunday Night???

Looking for suggestions for things to do on Saturday night and Sunday night in Waikiki Beach or nearby... Will be there July 29 and 30, prior to sailing on the POH. What have you done and what would you definitely recommend (entertainment, shopping, food, attractions, etc.)?

Also... how late is the swap meet open?

We stayed at the Park Shore Waikiki. It's on the end of Waikiki Beach nearest to Daimond Head. The 24 hr. open air restuarant they have in there called "Lulu's" turns into a night club on Friday & Saturday nights. It was packed and had a line waiting to get in. It looked like it was a pretty big hot spot for the younger crowd.

Across the street from the Hotel, they showed movies on the beach on Saturday and Sunday nights. It was a pretty neat setup. The had a huge screen and they sat up chairs on rubber platforms right on the beach. They also had an area right in front of the screen that you could sit on the beach on towels or in your beach chairs. They had a bunch of different vendors set up with tents there selling everything from cheesy beach dogs to shrimp scampi to shave ice. They showed top rated movies too. We didn't do it. But we watched them set up for it while we were laying on the beach in the afternoon It drew a pretty big crowd and would have been fun if we'd had more time.

I think that they're only doing the movies on the beach once a month or so now. Budget cutbacks, doncha know.

Hi Kydeg! I'll be in town the same nights - if you're also staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, their website mentions a "Music, Songs & Dance of Polynesia Show" for a 1 drink minimum at the hotel on Saturday night. http://www.hiltonhawaiianvillage.com/activities/entertainment.asp

That's our main plan for Saturday night. I was playing with the idea of hitting a Luau on Sunday night, but decided to just do some bar hopping, the House without a key bar sounds like a great place for sunset cocktails with live music: http://www.halekulani.com/dining/house_without_a_key/

Swap meet is only open until 3:00 on Sat and Sun.

Maybe suggestions for "what to do" depends on what sort of things you like (bars, sightseeing, etc) and where you're staying and if you'll have transportation.

Good places to shop: Ala Moana Mall, Ward Warehouse/Center

See: China Town, sunset on the beach, Iolani Palace, Bishop Museum,

Eat: Duke's, Cheesecake Factory, Cheeseburger in Waikiki (very casual!), Little Village Noodle House, ToDai

Most touristy stuff closes up fairly early.
