Favorite Cruise?

We don't have as many cruises under our belt as many of you, and have only tried 3 cruise lines. Maybe if we were in Florida we would have more options with less airfare!

Our favorite cruise was a Transatlantic crossing on the Celebrity Constellation from Barcelona to Cape Liberty, in the fall. It was a combination of the pre-cruise in Barcelona and our first time there...a few amazing ports in Spain and Portugal, the days at sea, and though it was not a chartered cruise, we had a big group of gays and lesbians on board.

Just curious what has been your favorite cruise of all time - and why? I enjoy living through other people's travel...not much else, but definitely their travel! :D

We're less traveled than you, and only one cruise line, but so far our favorite was a Southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan on Adventure of the Seas, my husband and I and two friends. We did spend the port days together on excursions, but otherwise went our separate ways until cocktails or wine before dinner and then our evening meal. It was the perfect combination of being social and doing our own thing, and a gorgeous itinerary (Aruba, Curacao, St. Kitts, and, well, St. Thomas was just okay).

Favorite was Buenos Aires 'round the horn to Valpariso on Norwegian Sun. Perfect mix of sea and port days, scenic ports, fun time in BA pre-cruise, great group on our rollcall....and a really great price (buy one, get the second for 1/2 price) fare on our stern facing balcony.

Runner up (and a close one at that) was Athens to Istanbul on Norwegian Jade via Olympia, Corfu, Alexandria-overnight (tour to the Pyramids), Santourni, Mykonos, and Ephesis. Way too much sightseeing but a 50th birthday to remember!

Our favorite cruise was our 2010 cruise on the QM2. We were in the Queens Grill so it was really luxurious. Our second favorite would be our past Jan.14 day trip on Celebrity Eclipse. Food was better than Cunard(except the Grills)Perry Grant was a riot. Unfortunately he started taking off his rings when our home wasn't big enough for him!(you have to see him to get that!) Visiting 8 ports was great, especially missing a few snowstorms in the process! We hope to do a repeat trip again next winter.

:) We love Perry Grant too! Have had the pleasure of enjoying his performances in the smaller intimate clubs as well as the Celebrity Theater. He is a hoot!

Clay, both of your cruise itineraries are on our bucket list. My boss and his partner just sailed around the Horn on HAL, in March.

In traveling with friends or family, we sometimes do the same CntPAcruiser. We enjoy sharing time, but like to be on our on too!

Merman...I would have thought your favorite cruise would have been Canada/New England on the CONSTELLATION with our "positively ENCHANTING" table mates...(EEEEK!)

For me it was 10-day Panama Canal Cruise from Acapulco to San Juan on Princess' first Royal Princess in 1990. I was suppose to take my parents with me; but they had to cancel due to an illness; but they encouraged me to go ahead without them. I was 29 at the time and prior to Princess it was mostly summer cruises on RCI. Once I boarded the ship to my horror no one looked under 65. I almost got off in Costa Rica to fly home as I felt like I stood out like a sore thumb. Well, to make a long story short I ended up at a really nice dining table and everyone sort of took me under their wing and we all had a blast together. I never laugh so hard during dinner as there were two elderly sisters from Florida who were just a hoot! I eventually met a gay couple in the casino and I hung out with them and even had a "fling" with one of the entertainers who performed in the atrium with his sister (I thought it was his wife until he hit on me one evening!! I couldn't understand why he kept giving me weird looks when I passed by him; but he was so handsome. Yep..he was a member of the club. Going through the Panama Canal was truly a highlight and the food and service was truly gourmet back in those days. I even got a VIP invite to cocktail party in the captains private quarters. (I've never tell how I got the invite - but I assure you it was above board - really!) I felt like a million bucks! It was one of those rare cruises where the stars were all alined perfectly. After this cruise - I can honestly say all my RSVP and Atlantis all-gay charters had been been pretty spectacular. Dancing under the stars at the White party till 4AM with a thousand hot men around the pool in the middle of the ocean - it don't get any better in life.

10 days cruising the Tahitian Islands in 2007. Sailing into Bora Bora and trying not to tear up (it had been a dream of mine to go there since I was 10 years old and saw Marlon Brando in Mutiny on the Bounty).

Any cruise when you can meet nice people. A bad day at sea beats a good day at home. We really enjoy getting together with family members at the LGBI/FOD gatherings. Southern Caribbean and the Mexican Rivera are our favorite cruises.

French Polynesia. We've been fortunate enough to sail to many beautiful ports/cities, but Tahiti is a true paradise. I was totally fascinated by their culture. Mahu's and Rae Rae's (spelling). Check it out.

My favorite cruise has so far been New Zealand (from sydney to Auckland) on Celebrity Solstice earlier this year. Though I'll admit I haven't been very happy with Celebrity recently, the trip and the cruise itself were absolutely breath taking.

Second favorite will be Canada / New England on Jewel of the Seas. Doing it again this year on Brilliance of the Seas.

Yes, the best cruises are always ones which you can laugh at the disgusting slobs who you cruise with. I'll keep an eye out for your next cruise to join in on the fun.

Yes, see you there. I'm kind of a disgusting slob too though.

I wear mostly jeans or shorts and t-shirts during the day and for formal nights only a cheap black suit.

Just laugh at me behind my back, please!

 not sure why we're going there....we don't find laughing behind others backs enjoyment to our cruise, and the reference above from guys we cruised with was an interesting and understood (by all the guys from our group) observation. Not referencing his clothes at all but his frightening and extremely rude behavior. I don't care what people wear on their cruise. Lots of other threads on that subject!

My favorite cruises have been the Celebrity Galapagos, the Antarctica with GAdventures and the Istanbul to Egypt on Regent. The first for the wildlife and snorkeling, the second for the amazing vistas and the third for the wine, food and sites. :-)

Cheers

Todd
