Veendam - recommendations for Vista suite location?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm new to CC but relatively experienced in cruising, particularly with HAL. Have not sailed on Veendam but have booked the 49-day Atlantic Adventurer R/T FLL. Will be cruising from 10/20 until 12/8/17 Need assistance with choosing a vista suite on Veranda deck. I think the port side will offer a good view but don't want to be over the Casino or any loud area. Sailed the old Statendam several times but most recently have been sailing the 4 Vista Class ships. The Veendam is an older ship. Any recommendations or experiences specific to this shiip which would help me for this sailing? Thanks in advance.

We were in A186 last Fall for our NE Canada cruise. It was a very nice cabin without any issues and rode well being mid-ship aft. I'm not sure if you care which direction your bed faces but A186 faced aft. You can tell on the deck plan by where the doorway to the passageway is located.

Any port side cabin from A174 to A192 will be over the Exploration Cafe which is very low key, and also away from the aft elevators.

Here is a photo of the cabin, and the verandah looking out on "Old Quebec." We were docked on the port side.

You are smart to stay on the veranda deck. There are some Vista suites on the Navigation deck. We booked one of these once and found it noisy from the Lido chairs above it.

We like to be near the elevators as my husband has trouble walking. We have never been bothered by elevator noise.

If you like quick access to the Lido, pick an aft cabin. If you prefer to be close to the showroom, pick a forward cabin. We have been in both and found both to be convenient since in it such a small ship.

As to booking Port or Starboard, decide if you want sun on your veranda in the beginning or end of your cruise. I didn't look at your ports but you never know what side the ship will be facing the port.

One last point. If you like quick access getting on and off the ship, book a forward cabin.

Check out an aft cabin (we had 232) on the Veendam for the Voyage of the Vikings and would book it again in a heartbeat...awesome!!! Typical verandah layout, but fantastic verandah with amazing view. Also...VERY quiet...
