We (my wife & 2 sons, 12 and 10) arrive in Barcelona @ 7:20 PM the evening before our ship leaves. We'll take a cab to Hotel Gaudi, just off La Rambla. We'll likely walk around some after checking in. Is this area OK at night, and should the kids be indoors after a certain time?
The next day we plan to walk (with luggage on rollers) down La Rambla to the Columbus statue to catch the blue bus shuttle that will take us to our ship. According to google maps, this is ~700 meters, < 10 minute walk.
Does this sound do-able? Safe? Or should we just take a cab to the ship? We'll each have one luggage and maybe a carry-on/backpack. We might stop somewhere along the way to grab a bite, like a take out place. We figured this would be an opportunity to take in the city during our short time there. I didn't really want to stay in an outlying area or near the airport. Thanks for any feedback.
