Your money is very welcome in Vancouver. You don't have to bring Canadian money with you.

Here's some info for you from the Airport page:

Getting to and from Vancouver International Airport

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is located on an island west of the city of Richmond , to the south of Vancouver .

Downtown Vancouver is about 30 minutes drive away, longer during peak traffic periods.

The airport is accessible by car (pick-up and drop-off or short-stay parking and long-stay parking options). Taxi services are available, limousines, city bus services and the YVR airporter bus.

Taxi from Vancouver Airport

Taxis from YVR to downtown Vancouver cost about $25 including taxes.

You don't HAVE to have Canadian dollars - everyone will take your US dollars but be aware that you will get change in Canadian and not the correct exchange rate. You can easily get CDN$$ at an ATM at the airport.

I would also suggest getting some Canuck bucks from an ATM.

US cash is readily accepted but most businesses screw you on the exchange vs a bank. Enjoy Vancouver and surrounding area. :)
