Yes, yes, and yes. Pretty much anything except for the Daily Service Charge unless you have refundable OBC, which can be used for the DSC. Non-refundable OBC cannot be used for the DSC.

I used mine for spa, drinks, and gift shops. And a future cruise credit too.

I'm assuming it just gets taken off your final onboard account/bill. Is this correct as I do have some on my next cruise?

The difference is that non-refundable is like coupon in a store that states that it has no cash value. You can use non-refundable to pretty much anything else than daily service charges and casino but will get no refund after the cruise if you still have some left. Refundable is usually bought before the cruise by you or for example by someone else as a gift and that can be used to anything and you will get the unused part back after the cruise. In the accounting system the refundable kind is probably first used during the cruise.

If I remember correctly, the type is stated in the onboard account statement. Before the cruise you can also ask your TA or PCC.

Others have stated the difference fairly well. Most OBC that comes from Norwegian (either as a promo or as an adjustment to a price drop after final payment) is non-refundable. If you cancel an excursion on board, or a dining reservation with the proper notification, it will be posted as refundable OBC.

Call your TA or your PCC at Norwegian and ask for an "Amenity Confirmation". It will include any onboard credit (along with the type), any "bon voyage" gifts/packages you may have purchased, promotional casino credit confirmation, and any wines or gifts from your TA

I used part of my OBC to purchase a robe when we were aboard the Star recently. That way, I can get the Freestyle Concept, in a small dose, until my next cruise.

So can you buy jewelry at the on board jewelry stores? I am guessing my hubby is hoping the answer is no!

Yes, that's what the other portion of our OBC was used for.
