Hey everyone,

We are going on our first cruise in August this year. Does anyone have any advice on accommodation near White Bay Ferry terminal??? We are coming into Sydney the day before we set sail and need to stay somewhere, preferably close to the terminal to save money on taxis. Any ideas??? Thanks.:)

Unfortunately there isn't any hotel 'conveniently' close, as the terminal is in a relatively remote location.

The closest hotel group geographically are around Darling Harbour, but will still typically require taxis unless you travel light and like to walk.

There is very little of anything around Whites Bay Terminal. You are going to have to shell out approx $30 for a taxi from Circular Quay to the WB terminal.

Even if you found something at White Bay it would lack any interest for a visitor. It's better to taxi to and from Circular Quay or Darling Harbour.

One of the problems with the site of White Bay, no near by "large in size" accommodation and the other big ones is nearly nil public transport nor nearby long term parking (within walking distance). These things must have been noticed in plans but chosen to be ignored..... at their peril in the long run????? Whilst not departed from the main cruise terminal Portside in Brisbane yet (next year), from research, their primary cruise wharf has a multitude of accommodation within easy walking distance of the terminal, long term parking also within walking distance. I am not sure about public transport though. The wheat terminal in Brisbane though would be worse, in the middle of a large working wharf site with nothing near by. (departed on the Queen Mary II from there, flew into Brisbane and the cabbie didn't even know where that wharf was nor about the Queen Mary II being in town......... you could see it only 5 minutes out of the airport which is on the other side of Brisbane...... see those big red funnels, head for that .... lol).

Nothing near white elephant, but a tax from the station or airport to a hotel and then a second taxi from hotel to white elephant wont cost much more (maybe $10) than a direct taxi from either of those to white elephant.

The termnal is great, the location lousy.

We've had a couple of experiences out of White Bay - not an ideal place to plonk a cruise departure point and then add in no real services by way of accommodation nor public transport. Unless you're a massive fan of walking, I'd avoid that too - way too far. The only realistic option is taxi, so you may as well stay somewhere central and have more to see before the cruise. HOWEVER after the cruise will offer options about getting out of there afterwards, and a wise option to take up. Good luck there :)
