I'm sorry - I'm just really slow. Can these be used to pay your bill onboard the ship? My cruise is paid in full, but we are celebrating 2 birthdays and a high school graduation on our cruise, so I expect our onboard tab to be quite large!!:D

Thank you cruizingisthebest!

Sure thing.

Just take your cards to guest services or use the kiosks onboard and load the number. I used them last year and plan to do the same this year.

You can also use them to book Carnival excursions online if that interests you.

Save 20% on Carnival gift cards $50 for $40 at KROGER

I just went to Kroger grocery store last night and got $50 worth of Carnival gift cards for only $40. It was easy peasy.

Plus, I think you get 2x fuel points always on gift cards. 100 points = 10cents off per gallon of gas at participating Shell stations. You can earn up to $1 off at Kroger stations (not all stores have fuel stations, you can search for locations on the kroger website). Plus, charge it on a credit card that earns reward points, and it's a triple dipper !! :)

Basically, this is how you get this Carnival gift card deal ...

- Log in to your Kroger acct online kroger.com. If you don't have one, register for one (we didn't have one so I registered).

- Link your Kroger Plus rewards card to your online acct.

- Click on savings > digital coupons near upper left, then search for Carnival in the search bar.

- When it pulls up the $10 off coupon, click Load to Card. (This is a coupon, you don't need to use points or anything to get this).

- Go to your nearest Kroger store and get two Carnival gift cards from the gift card display rack. You must purchase 2 gift cards to get this deal.

- At the register, tell them you want $25 on each gift card, which is the lowest amount allowed for the Carnival gift cards. When they scan your Kroger card, it will automatically ring the $10 off coupon into the register. You can choose higher denominations if you like, but it dilutes your savings (i.e. 50 for 40=20% savings, if you purchased two cards for 50 each, then 100 for 90=10% savings)

- I think this coupon expires 5-16-15, so do this right away. Also, my Kroger did not have a whole lot of Carnival gift cards available in the store. Once they sell out, I doubt they will get more in time to get this deal ??

- This coupon can only be used once per rewards card/account

Note: they do have discounts on other gift cards as well right now ...

$20 Dominos gift card for $16

$5 off two $25 or more Bath & Body Works gift cards ($50 for $45)

$5 off two $25 or more Applebee's gift cards ($50 for $45)

$15 off two $25 or more Groupon gift cards ($50 for $35)

$5 off two $25 or more Michael's gift cards ($50 for $45)

$5 off Yankee Candle gift cards

$5 off one $25 or more Fandango gift card

$10 off two $25 or more Payless gift cards ($50 for $40)

$5 off two Aeropostale gift cards

$10 off two $25 or more Spafinder gift cards ($50 for $40)

$5 off one $25 or more Skype gift card ($25 for $20)

$10 off two Jiffy Lube gift cards totaling $50 or more ($100 for $90)

Unfortunately, I missed out on the 4x fuel points on gift cards special they ran thru Tuesday. I didn't even know before now that Kroger had fuel points. We never have even used ours !

Thank you!! We have Ralph's in So Cal and I just loaded into my phone app for the discount. It worked. I will go pick them up later and ask family to do the same.

Thanks for the heads up, but dang! I wish that it was truly 20% off and not just $10 off! I would've gone out and purchased enough gift cards to pay the balance off our next cruise! Sounds like the same Carnival "fine print" person that came up with the "kids sail free" sale was behind the wording of this deal!

Still, every bit is helpful! [emoji4]

Thank you for posting this! Just got home from Kroger and did buy a $100 Carnival card with my groceries but appears I will be returning tomorrow!

I was able to purchase $300 Carnival and $300 Southwest gift cards last week during the 4x points promotion. Hubby filled up his truck for $37 which hasn't happened in a long long time!

I wanted to thank you for your post. I set this up online, then stopped at the store on the way home from work tonight. 2 validated cards in hand now for our upcoming cruise expenses.

When the users use of the board use it in positive ways, like your savings post, it makes for a much better community.

Thank you again.

Can you tell me exactly what you did. I was unable to join on the Kroger web site but I have a Ralphs card. Thanks from a friend near Clinton Keith Road.

Thank you for posting this and the information everyone has given!

I wish it was an unlimited amount or an actual 20% off though. The closest Krogers to me is about a 90 min drive. But thanks to all of the info posted here, you saved me the trip! I have to get $1000 more in gift cards to pay off our cruise and to save $200, I would so jump in my car and drive! Alas $10 off (or you know.... going to the parking lot and begging people to use their cards for this which would be the other option from my end) isn't worth the gas to drive there. Especially since my local store has a "double perks" offer right now and each $500 gift card is basically a free tank of gas for my Jeep.

Has anyone tried to use it twice? I see everyone saying you can only use it once, but that it says for me is that it can be used once per person PER TRANSACTION which led me to believe that I could use it more than once, but only get the $10 off 2 per transaction (so if I went back in another day and got 2 more I could get the $10 off again). I have my mom getting us 2 and I'll be getting us 2....maybe even 4 by setting up an account for my husband as well ;)

It won't allow you to add it to your account more than one time. After you purchase the first set of cards and use the $10 off it is stored in your account. However the idea of using others cards works fine. My husband and two grown daughters each applied it to their cards. So in total we ended up with $200 worth of cards and only paid $160. That's the only way you actually get 20% off is with buying 2 - $25 cards in each transaction. But like others have stated on here the extra fuel points is an added bonus toward gas purchases as well as using a rewards credit card to make the purchase of the gift cards. Just thought I'd share my experience with them.

It does. I loaded it to my Fry's card.

Thanks for the info ! That will be helpful for those without Krogers nearby.

It looks like the Verizon cards are about to go live on the website again. Read post 568 in the 10% off thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2081176. It also has a link to post 528 with pretty much everything I know about those gift cards.

Thanks for the heads up but we have no Krogers around here! Never seem to catch a break on these cards. We aren't Verizon customer, either. One day maybe we will be able to take advantage.

The Carnival gift cards have no expiration. It is even printed on the cards that they do not expire. The one time I have seen an expiration was on the bonus promotion they ran last year at Fathers Day, which was 1 year on the bonus portion, and no expiration on the gift card.

We have a FredMyer here. Doesn't seem to work here. My son lives in AZ were they have Fryes. I went online and signed into my account and changed my address to his address (temp). Had him go to Fryes and buy cards today. He talked to store manager. According to Mesa,AZ Fryes you can buy cards each trip on your own card. Not only good one time as originally thought. I will have to try this later as I don't have any extra money to give to son to try out. He does have a card and his MIL has a card so either way, I will get a few more gift cards. Manager also told him special is running until like May 29th.

Cheers!

Thank you for this tip! My husband is actually a manager at Kroger so I'm going to have him check and see if they have the Carnival gift cards at his store. If not, there's at least 5 other Kroger stores within a 10-mile radius of where we live so I'm sure I can find them somewhere. :)
