Is the Breeze REALLY That Bad?!?

Hi All! We've been reading over the most recent review for the Breeze and I'm getting a littler nervous . The reviews have gone way downhill since we first reserved our spot back in April. We are currently booked on the Breeze on Feb 27, 8 Day Eastern Caribbean to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, and DR. BUT, the new reviews are going downhill.

We have just found an alternative 8 Day on the Sunshine that goes to St. Maarten, Grand Turk, San Juan, and St. Kitts.

Anyone been on both boats and have an opinion, or love one set of ports better than the other? We sailed the Liberty in February 2015 and loved it, so I'm fearful of being disappointed this go-round. Thanks!!

Can't speak about recently or the Caribbean, however we have been on Breeze & Sunshine in the Med, Breeze is hands down the best ship, apart from the Serenity pool which is amazing X

I haven't sailed Breeze recently, but I thought she was a great ship. Sure, the shows in the theater were pretty bad, but Sunshine has the same type of shows and in a theater that's way too small. Sunshine has a bad public space to guest ratio, and reports say that it is indeed crowded (although manageable). Breeze should be less crowded.

Any negative changes that have shown up on Breeze recently are probably the fleetwide things that would also be on Sunshine. If the recent reviews are talking about poor service, that could be just a fluke with that room steward or waiter or sailing in particular.

Both itineraries do look like good ones. I would probably give the edge to Sunshine's itinerary, but I would also love the Breeze's.

I am in the same situation. I am booked for the Dec 5th, 2015 sailing and I have been reading the reviews for the past 5 months on Cruise Critic and watched them slowly progress to a decline in ratings... So much so that it is troubling. It seems the people who have had more cruising experience tend to hate her and those who have had less experience with which to compare her either love her or say she is just okay.

On the other hand, I have been looking at some other review apps and the reviews have been more positive than negative for the Breeze. I am locked into this cruise and I am sure I will like it as it will be my FIRST cruise ever!:D But I am also going into with the mindset that it is what you make of it. This is the most expensive vacation I've taken and technically the first and only MAJOR vacation since landing my first permanent job after college with paid vacation and such, so there are certain things that would cause me to be disappointed, but honestly I am super excited and am going to make the most of it! I booked a cove balcony so I know it is going to set the standard for potential future cruises (maybe a mistake! eek!)

December 5th will be our 3rd time on the Breeze and we LOVE her!

Just remember to take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt, because different people like different things.

Cruise Z.. are you part of the big roll call on another social media site?

I'm a fairly experienced cruiser (13 cruises, all Carnival), and my last two cruises were on the Breeze. I love the Breeze and don't understand why anyone wouldn't love her as well! I'm just finishing up my review of my most recent trip, and I hope I'm presenting the Breeze in a positive light. Now, I will say I'm a little more laid back than some cruisers and believe my cruise is primarily what I make of it, now what others do for me....and, although I find occasional frustrations, I'm so happy to be in the Caribbean, they just don't matter much!

Hi all!

Count me in as one who loves Breeze enough to have sailed on her twice.:D

Had my 1st cove balcony last time & would also book that type cabin again.

Sometimes what one person doesn't like about a ship wouldn't mean anything to you eg I never use the pool or hang out at bars so wouldn't consider anybody's opinion on those features.

Carnival has a fun vibe & you're sure to enjoy either of those ships.

I only remember hearing good things about the Breeze! I would love to sail on that ship.

I am going on the Victory next week, and the reviews have been mixed at best, being that she is an older, smaller ship without the guy's burger etc. But that does not daunt me. I fully expect to enjoy that ship and cruise.

I do know that it can be disheartening to read negative reviews about the ship that you are booked on, but also, remember that one person's experience on a ship, can be totally different than another person's who is on the same ship and cruise. Another thing to remember is that; more people will write on forums that they had a negative experience than those who had a positive one.

I think since I started reading cruise reviews, I have seen many negative ones about the ship that I am about to sail on. Then, I go and have a totally opposite experience. Yes. some things will not be up to scratch or perfect, but likely most things will be good to great.

Go and enjoy the Breeze!

I haven't joined in any roll calls, but I may look into it for sure! Yeah true about taking people's opinions with a grain of salt.. Have you seen some of the things people complain about?!

We got off the Breeze a week ago and enjoyed it. I'm not for sure why anyone would truly complain about the ship itself. The decor is very subtle, the layout is easy to maneuver and there is lots of room for guests. The only complaints I truly could say about the ship is the comedy club is too small and there is no adults only pool. Other than that, the complaints would be fleet wide for Carnival (some service issues, smoky casino, etc).

Overall, we enjoyed the Breeze and would go on it again.

I have not seen negativity about the Breeze.

Maybe I am oblivious.

Like I said, this will be our 3rd time on her and I wouldn't spend all the money on something that I didn't think was worth it.. 3 times.

I just recently sailed the Splendor and the Breeze both within a 3 month span. I personally had more fun on the Splendor and had less complaints on the Splendor as well. While i think the Breeze was great also i did prefer the Splendor. All opinions are going to be different such as families with children probably will prefer the Breeze for all of the extra activities.

What irratated me about the Breeze was the lack of pool "space" availability. Those pools are slammed full of people! The comedy club attendance is a joke unless you get there at least 30 minutes early. I was in the casino for the last comedy show and the line extended all the way into the casino area by about 40 feet. That is insane.

Also the open times of the restaurants. With so many options to choose from you would think deciding what you wanted to eat would be the problem but most of the time i was chasing open times for places to get. Most often they would be closed up to an hour before they were supposed to be on the hub app. Would lead to 30 minute lines at the deli. BTW watch out on the floors inside the lido food area. Very very slick.

Oh and the man everyone loves,Matt, was very pushy when it was time to debark. I know it is a quick turnaround but jeez lay off a bit man.

I know these issues could happen on other ships but they have not happened to me on the others yet.

Just remember you are on a cruise and even one with a few bad experiences is still awesome.

Have you checked out our roll call yet? If not, you should! Bunch of seasoned cruisers for this sailing as well as cruisers who have been on the Breeze before.

Remember that the percentage of reviews you read here on CC are a small percentage of the people who actually cruise. It will be a great cruise!!
