Good Morning to all

My name is Robert and I will be doing a "Live From" the Independence of the Seas for the sailing that is leaving today.

For this sailing I am doing solo. Internet permitting I will be giving Live updates from the ship.

I have everything packed in the car ready to go. Now to get myself ready. See everyone on the Indy.

Have a wonderful solo trip! Ill be on Indy on December 28 iver NYE and cant wait! Is your cruise still the week long? Mine will be five nights with Foulmouth and Labadee and look forward to finally seeing the Cruise Compasses for those sailings. Enjoy!

I know you didnt ask but if you go to the gym could you see if there are complimentary classes or is there a fee for all?

Ckrobyn, will also look forward to your review! Happy planning! Will you be doing the five night?

Having just gotten of Indy I highly recommend typing it in notes and then copying it and pasting it. You didn't want to lose what you typed. Wifi coverage was ok between 6-8 am and then sketchy after that. We were able to logon about 40% of the time.

Enjoy her, she is a wonderful ship with a great crew.

Yes....tough pill to swallow! We were actually chatting on FB last night....possibly next fall ;) ckroybn (and Shar) are GREAT company! I met them on the EX and had a great time as a solo-turned-not-so-solo cruiser because of them :)

Thanks for the tip. Currently doing a quick update after this post. I was able to get logged here in my stateroom which is a inside in the aft part of ship on deck 7.

I will be posting photos later on as I get them uploaded onto my tablet from camera then up to photobucket.

Good Evening all,

Well I made it on the ship. I decided to leave my house around 10am. After a little stop and traffic I made it to the Parking Lot around 210pm. From there onto shuttle, check in, then gangplank was about 25min. This was about the fastest I have been on board.

Since I brought my bag with me I was unpacked by 3pm in my Stateroom. Then it was Muster Time.

After that I went to the Helipad for Sail-Away. After we got out to sea I went up to the Diamond Lounge. Dear god it was full with a line out the door to get drinks. Thankfully I got my drink right when it opened.

Around 530pm I went to Chops for my first meal of the cruise. I really enjoyed the meal. Just note that there will be no food porn in my Live From. From Chops I went to the Welcome Aboard show in the theater. The theater was only 3/4 full. Lots of big groups on board.

Later on this evening I am going to hit the hot tubs then the late night comedy show. Hopefully later I will get some pics uploaded.

From what I had read, Freedom got a WIFI Upgrade earlier this year when it was in drydock (Back in January).

That makes perfect sense. I was on the 2nd sailing after the drydock and I reported LIVE. The wifi was moving at rapier like speed :) I guess I am in for some serious frustration on the Indy......uuuugh

Oh dear :( Was the wifi really that bad?? How can it be so different than the Freedom?

From our group of 34 half of them had wifi and we all got it refunded due to lack of connectivity. None of us were even questioned about it and given full refunds. Even at the computer lounge the connection was sketchy.

We had two devices signed up and my DW could only get on 40% of the time, and I could only log on 20% of the time. Even when you finally got on you would lose connectivity at the drop of a hat. I can't picture uploading photos through the wifi. I discovered my best time online was between 6:30 am and 7:30 am. By 8:30 am as more people logged on it got worse. DW says she couldn't even logon at late night. Even though my business would pay for my wifi, I could not justify the money spent for such an inferior product. Our old dial up was faster 15 years ago.

I had better cellular data connection in my water front cabana at Haiti than wifi on the ship. I have friends on this week's sailing and I let them know, on their roll call, to avoid getting the wifi.

I am excited to read the OP's ponderings during their cruise but I'd hate to see them waste time staring at their device wondering when things might improve. After sailing almost exclusively on Oasis Class ships I have gotten used to Zoom Internet. So when you are paying full price for an inferior product on Indy it was the only true issue I had on my whole cruise.

Thanks for the heads up.....

I will definitely give it a try, and if it is still as bad in a few weeks as it was for you, I will ask for a refund. We have Rogers roam like home plan which includes many Caribbean islands, so that isn't an issue. I guess I will post from the ship as often as I can. I was so used to posting all the time on the Freedom, but the reality is most people posting LIVE usually only check in at the end of the day....or early morning :o

Ander, the "Dog and Pony Show Pub" (that's what we named it) has a pretty good lounge signer. We went there close to every night and listened to him while we sat with our group in the RP or in the bar. You might want to check it out.

I look forward to your reports. Have a great night.
