Virgin Island Sailaway questions...

I have read that it is a 10 minute ride from the pier? Does anyone know if this is correct and if it avoids all those scary mountain roads?

 

Also, I have read, that it is an hour to get to the island where the snorkeling (Norman Island) takes place? Again, can anyone confirm this?

 

Also, how rough are the waters on the way over? Should I prepare everyone ahead of time with sea sick medicines? Is the snorkeling itself in calm waters?

 

Boy I must sound paranoid but I had a bad experience snorkeling in Costa Maya and dont care to repeat it.
