Where to buy water & soda in Southampton?

We're boarding Independence this weekend for the TA. We usually like to carry aboard a case of water and our favorite soda that isn't available on the ship. (Diet Mountain Dew)...is there anywhere within walking distance for such a purchase the night before our cruise? We're staying at the Novotel-Southampton on West Quay Rd. Thanks for any advice...

Easiest from Novotel is probably ASDA, a five minute walk.

The front entrance, on Portland Terrace, is at the top of a hill but to avoid the hill walk past parking lots to the National Express coach depot, go into the white pedestrian portico entrance of the multi-storey parking lot opposite the Nat Express depot, hit the ASDA button on the elevator, and a skywalk takes you across the road into ASDA.

Click on "earth" for a good birds eye view, but on damned-silly new googlemaps  the route disappears in that format.

In this streetview the Nat Express depot is centre-left, the white pedestrian entrance to the multi-storey carpark is centre-right with the blue-grey skywalk.

Novotel is hidden by the traffic circle behind the camera.

Worth knowing if you're looking to purchase heavy groceries, most U.K. Supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, sainsbury) offer a delivery service if you order online.

I once had a water plus bits delivery made to a London hotel, so I'm sure Southampton won't be a problem! The supermarkets give you a 2 hr delivery window, so just book it to arrive whilst you're having breakfast! Quite handy.

Go onto their websites, register etc. http://Www.mysupermarket.co.uk is handy for comparing prices.

They do sell Mountain Dew, but with a caveat: "Please Note:This is an EU product based on the American recipe." So don't expect it to be the same as you buy back home. I suggest you buy some and try it first.

All good ideas and suggestions! Thanks for the help! We'll be checking it out Saturday when we get into Southampton. If we decide to just go pick up the items ourselves instead of using delivery to our hotel, is Tesco within walking distance of the Novotel? I know ASDA is close by....thanks!

In which case the easiest Tesco Express is 176 High Street, a 15 minute walk from Novotel.

The main shopping street is called Above Bar Street, at the bottom of the street is the historic Bargate & beyond it that same street is called High Street. Tesco Express is just a few yards below the Bargate.

There are several other Tesco Express stores, the one in London Road is about the same distance but there's not a lot else of interest that way.

One in the Ocean Village complex is convenient for those sailing from Ocean cruise terminal (not Indy, which sails from City cruise terminal).

I drink gallons of Mt Dew in the States, but rarely see it in the UK.

I think the diet is called sugar-free.

It might be worth noting that the Tesco Express brand is the companies smaller convience store brand, and they tend to stock only the most popular things in the Tesco range that the British public buy.

Mountain Dew Sugar Free might not be an item that the Tesco Expree JB has mentioned carries, in which case you may have to try the larger Tesco Extra store that Southhampton has.

The American recipe contains Brominated vegtable oil, which is banned as a food additive in the EU.
