Foster beer taste?

We recently completed our 1st cruise a couple months ago. We were on Celebrity and had free drink packages. Thankful for that as it would have been a big bill lol.

We are now thinking of Carnival for our 2nd cruise in June. Drink packages are not worth it for us as out of the 5 in our group 2 are non drinkers. Carnival makes everyone pay the package if someone buys it so that is wasted money.

That said it seems like Fosters is the best bang for the buck. 750ml thats like 2 beers in 1 compared to the standard bottle of beer.

Question is what does it taste like?

Any Canadian or American brands have a similar taste?

A few other questions.

What is the savings buying by bucket?

Can Fosters be bought by bucket for those savings?

Can you buy a bucket and walk anywhere on the ship? Or you have to stay at that bar?

What I mean is lets say I have left overs and bring them to my room. Then later in the night can I open a can and got to the nightclub with it?

One other question which is going to sound silly!

I read you can bring water and soda on board. Is that just for your room? Or do people actually carry a can of Pepsi with them to lunch/dinner?

Thank you!

Ps - sorry for the silly questions were complete newbies still.

Taste like PBR

A bucket ( four beers) is $2 off

You can buy a bucket of Fosters

You can walk around the ship with the bucket

You can take leftovers to your room and take it anywhere later. Ask the room steward for ice.

You can bring a 12 pack of soda or water per person. You can take it anywhere.

Hubby likes them ok, best bang for buck, he also likes Ice House, Dos Equis and dark drafts. You can also buy a bucket, have the casino bar "hold" (refrigeration) for you, just bring your receipt when you are ready for a cold one, they will mark off how many you have received.

I find the Fosters to be a heavy beer. The first one ice cold is good the third one is warm near the end. Go buy some at the dist. before your cruise and see for yourself. the water in the MDR and Lido deck seem to be filtered more then the cabin sink water. We refill the big bottle from the cabin at the lido or refill our cups there. The water at the lido is better then Poland springs IMHO.

Fosters is the best deal. Leaned that quick on my first cruise on the Glory. Taste is passable cold but once it warms up it's a bit skunky.

DW's sister moved to Australia...she has told us that real Australian's laugh at Fosters. It really is the Natty Ice of Australia.

Yep S.A. is in a 16 oz can. Fosters is in a 750ml can that's about 60% more beer for $2 more price. Or 30 cents an oz versus 35 cents an oz for S.A.

Of course, for those of us that don't swill beer in mass quantities like the Coneheads, and actually want to enjoy the taste of a good beer, we'll grab a S.A. or even a slightly smaller and tad more pennies per oz, Sierra Nevada.

While not on any ship, if you want a really good beer from OZ look for one of the Cooper's line, or try a JS Sundowner for what a lager really tastes like. Bud and Fosters don't even come close.

I find the Fosters to be a heavy beer.

Depends on what beers you prefer; I enjoy IPAs so Fosters is a fairly light bodied lager relatively.

Umm, no. A 16oz Sam Adams is not the same size as a 750ml (~24oz) Fosters.

Question is what does [Fosters] taste like?

Just pick up a can at the grocery store and try it out yourself.

The bucket deal is probably your best bet on any.

Drinking 4 beers in a day is a lot for me I guess. I usually a bucket, drank 2 then, saved the other 2 for the next day, and usually bought 2 of the mixed drink special's a day. I was quite fond of the cruiser..

You can also mix and match in your bucket (2 Fosters & 2 Coors Light, for example) and still get a $.50 discount per beer.

As far as soda goes, I do not combine alcohol and food, so I am the guy that brings my soda to dinner with me.

A bucket of Foster's equals roughly eight and a half 12 ounce beers, so that is quite a bucket if you get one.

I have traditionally been a beer drinker while cruising but after learning about the match play program Carnival offers I am thinking about switching to cocktails as I do enjoy hitting the blackjack tables with the DW

We were on the Legend last week and they did have the Foster's "oil cans" but they were not available in a bucket. We also didn't see any Sam Adams on the ship. We did see Blue Moons in Serenity but they were in glass bottles and hence had to be poured in a cup.

You may want to say what ship you are looking at sailing on because it seems like the availability is based on the ship.

I am not a fan of Fosters but the Red Frogs were awesome :)

There's a reason Foster's is cheap, and it's not because it is the nectar of the gods, so to speak. :D

7.75 a can is hardly cheap ;). Was 6.75 but went up a dollar last year I believe. Still a good bang for your buck on a cruiseship though. $33.35 total cost for a bucket of 4 equals 8 twelve ounce beers with 4 bonus ounces since the Foster's is 25 ounces.

Cheap was relatively speaking, of course. :D

I'm not talking about cruiseship prices.

Just a tip too... I take a small soft side cooler and have the bucket placed in that and smothered with ice. You can carry it anywhere you want. Then being a fan of really cold beer, I ask for the salt shaker and apply liberally to the ice.
