question about toiletries in carry on

I know about the quart bag thing and am wondering if the travel sized bottles can be the kind you fill yourself. Many of the products I use do not come in small bottles.:)

As long as they're not over 3 oz. A quart bag doesn't hold much. Our dayghter is flying in for our cruise on Sunday, so she has checked this stuff out. Shes putting most into her checked luggage. No limit there.

thanks! I will be putting most of my stuff in my luggage but I have curly hair and need my hair gel! I want to have some in case anything happens to my luggage!!! lol!:)

Ditto. As long as it is 3 ounces or less and fit into a quart size bag "comfortably". Coming back a TSA told a traveler the size changed to less than 3.4 ounces, but I can't comfirm this.

i just saw a TSA guy on TV and he said 3.4 ounces, 1 quart zipper top bag, one bag per person.

At first I was lead to believe that everything that went into the quart bag had to be in the original labeled container. In re-reading the TSA requirements I would say only medications need the be in the original and labeled containers.

You are fine as long as the container itself is less than 3.0 ounces (or whatever ounce limit they are saying now). Just be aware that not all "travel" size bottles and products that are currently on the market are small enough to comply with the TSA regs. Make sure to read the labels and go for the smallest size you can find.
