Default #10 bus question & fish fry

how often does the #10 bus run? If we miss one, how long before the next?

we have a group of 10 heading to the fish fry, should we think about taking a taxi instead? would there be taxis at the cruise port for our group? any cost ideas..
just thinking now, it would be faster.

also does anyone have any menus for the places there? all I can find is one for goldies.

- The #10 will cost 1.50 each way.
- Bus leaves the port area when full or nearly full.
- 10 People would be nearly full = shouldn't have too long of a wait.
- Returning from Fish Fry = buses come by every 20 minutes or so.

Taxi will probably run you $3 each or so.
Once, when starting our walk back, a limo pulled up, took me and my wife back to the port area for $3. ... May be your lucky day too!

Menus are nearly the same as Goldies. I've never had a bad meal in at fish fry.

We've never had to wait more than a few minutes to catch a jitney going back into town. Leaving town we've had a wait longer because the driver was waiting for the bus to fill up.

Enjoy!

how many #10 jitneys are there?
seems like you could have a row of them waiting to fill up.
so ,is the cross area of bay/george by the port where the busses wait to take off?

how many stops are on a round trip?
once they start off & drop off their bus load, say at fish fry, do they just then follow their route empty stopping at "stops"?

sorry, this sounds so confusing why they wait for a full bus. on a route.

There are dozens - they are indendently owned and operated.

George street is diagonally across the street from the Bay St entrance of the straw market. From the port, walk straight from the gate 1 block to Bay, make a right and walk 3 short blocks to George.. it's on the left.

No set number.. although there are marked bus stops, some are unused, and many people get dropped or picked up along the route by just signaling the driver. No way of telling

They drop or pick up and keep moving, no waiting for a full bus

Hope this helps

I took the 12 jitney to the Fish Fry as well, so there is more than one option and the drivers are very cool. All the places have similar items. We even had a restaurant owner step to us and give us a free Bahama Mama with our meal and if his food wasn't good we didn't have to pay for it. I can't remember the name of the place but it was a family business. Needless to say the prices were good and the food was good.

After you eat you seriously may decide to walk back if it isn't too hot.

Do they have non fish items at the fish fry? I don't like seafood, but most others in my group do.

I'm vegetarian. The platters where we ate came with 2 sides. Loved the cole slaw & potato salad. 4 of us shared 1 platter for a light lunch. Anchorage? Purple Building. Delicious!

Scubagirrl's jitney info is accurate. We stayed on Cable Beach last week. The #10 jitneys came by about every 15 minutes or less. We never waited more than 4-10 minutes when going from George Street to the Fish Fry.

We tried Goldie's this year. We liked it so much that we went back on our last night. Grouper fingers - yum!

Thanks for the tip! I'm very suspicious of how food is prepared. (I get sick a couple of hours after ingesting meat/chicken/etc.)

I've wanted to mention to you how helpful all of your tips are. You give great info, and always accurate. Many thanks!
