Port to Ft. Lauderdale Airport taxi cost

Has anyone used a taxi to go from Port Everglades to FLL? Is there a standard cost? How much was the taxi? Is it easy to get one? Thanks for your help! Biebz

Biebz--Yes, in February. Ft. Lauderdale Airport to Pt. Everglades. The cost may depend upon how many people and how much luggage but for two of us with 3 bags, it was approximately $20.00

Does anyone know if it is cheaper to take a taxi from Ft. Lauderdale airport to Port Canaveral dock than a shuttle service? If we catch a taxi from the airport, will we be just as able to catch a cab from the port on the return back to the airport? Has anyone booked with a shuttle service from Ft. Lauderdale airport to the dock for a round trip transfer? How reliable are they? Did you have any problem finding them when you docked? We have only 2 people w/ 4 bags...trying to determine the best and cheapest way to go. RC wants $65 p/p r/t...seems way too much. We are not a time constraint...so that won't be a problem....thanks

Ok, first, from Ft Lauderdale airport I would hope you are cruising out of either Miami of Port Everglades, because Port Canaveral is 3 hours away. From Ft Lauderdale to Port Everglades, the ride is about 5 minutes, except for the wait to get through the Broward Sheriff's Office station to get onto port property. Price is $10 to get off the airport, should be about $15 total to get to pier, or you can take the bus that the cruise line offers.

Taxicabs are a dime a dozen at both Port Everglades and at Ft Lauderdale Airport. The cabs are metered and the minimum fare from the airport or the cruiseport is $10. Cab fare from Port Everglades to FLL should be less then $15 with tip. ;)

Don't we wish: for us last December due to traffic and time our taxi fare was $25.00. We were floored!!!! NMnita

  • 4 weeks later...

We took a taxi from the Airport to the hotel (Fort Lauderdale Grande) which sits directly facing the terminal and the cost was $18 because we ran into traffic. However, when we left the pier to go back to the airport a week later is was $13. It's not far at all but it really depends on the # of red lights and traffic that catches you.

Okay, we just got back from the cruise and our taxi from the Port to Ft. Lauderdale airport cost $16.10, we gave the driver a $20. We got a few red lights, traffic moved pretty smoothly. We would definitely take a taxi again, it cost less and we didn't have to sit on a bus for 20 minutes waiting for it to fill up before we could leave. The taxi's were lined up right outside the door, we hopped in and off we went. Hope this helps someone!! Biebz

Just posted this on another board on related subject.

We did the reverse, picked up the car at the airport after the cruise.

We assumed, correctly, that there would be a load of taxis waiting for us outside the cruise terminal after disembarkation. We were surprised to see a bus parked beyond the taxis, with a flashing sign of airport and numerous rental car companies.

I expected to pay about half of what a taxi would charge, but was stunned to find the bus was free. The driver insists on loading/unloading the luggage, probably to force a tip out of you.

After waiting about 20 minutes, we did a quick drive to the airport where we were deposited just east, and a level above the Alamo rental desk.

I assume the trip back to the ship is also free, but saw no one getting on the bus at the airport.
