What if a card gets lost? And what if it has the bottomless bubbles sticker? I'm thinking that if you go and tell them it's lost then they can verify you purchased BB's. Just trying to get prepared to sail with a 9 year old for the first time =-) Thanks!!!

What happens if you loose your card say maybe when you in port and off the ship? How would you get back on the ship? Not that this has ever happened to me but I was just wondering if you knew anyone that this has happen to them.

This has never happened to me, but I am assuming they would be able to verify who you are by your picture ID (assuming you still have your DL or something with you) and you could go from there.

Also, when you first embark, everyone's picture is taken. I am sure if you gave them a name, the ship could look up your picture for verification and go from there.

I had that happen a couple of years ago. I lost my card while in port. When I got to the gate, I told the guard what happened. I showed him my driver's license. He escorted me to the ship check-in/x-ray. He told the check-in security. The ship security verified my identify. I was told to go to the pursers desk to get another card. The only slight hang-up was that I had to also get a new card for my hubby. Everyone in the room needed a new card.

Not a big deal. The whole thing took about 10 minutes. Better than trying to retrace my steps in a foreign port!

Great to know....I think i will look on ebay later to see if I can find some lanyards so we have them to attach our cards to us!! I used to work in retail and HAD to wear one..so I won't think twice of having it one and would prolly lose it before DS. LOL

Be sure to bring a lanyard -- it's far too easy to lose the card if it's not attached to your body!

I'd like to second the lanyard suggestion. My 9 year old managed to loose her ship card on the way to customer service to get a hole put in it. I think we'd been on the ship all of 4 hours. They were happy to issue her another one and put a hole in it for her so she wouldn't loose it again.

My sister lost her card in Acapulco. Security at the port entrance escorted her to the gangway, then ship security escorted her to guest services for a new card. Then they escorted her back to the gate so she could show it to the guard there. Kind of silly to make her go back to the gate, but in some ways it helped the rest of us.

We found a neat bar inside the gate area and spent 3 more hours there.:D

  • 1 month later...

Took our grandson's on a cruise for their 16th birthday present..One of them lost his card..we went to GS and told them what happened..this kid had a gold card...from under the desk the lady pulled a stack of cards..all red and blue..no gold or higher..they issued him a new card on the spot..seems a lot of newbies tend to misplace :D their cards...not so much the seasoned cruiser..except of course OUR grandson...LOL

Don't bother with ebay. You can get lanyards at Wal-mart or any office supply store. Certainly not worth ebay. They also have the clips that will attach to you and put the card in at the Dollar Tree. Also the plastic sleeves.

Don't bother going to buy one. You can get a lanyard for free at the casino or where they are applying for Carnival credit cards onboard. They will even punch a hole in it to put it on the lanyard.

WalMart has some for ladies that are all sparkly. EXACTLY like the ones sold on the ship for $10. WalMart price was about $4-5 I think and lots more colors. They are in the jewelry dept.

I never lost my card but I did de-magnetize it once. I have magnetic sun clips on a lanyard around my neck along with the lanyard with my S&S card. The sun clips stuck to the magnetic strip on my card and all the info on the card was lost. I just had to go to Customer service and get a new one. So, remember to keep you S&S card away from magnets.

Also, you can get lanyards in the Casino for free.

My son lost a grand total of 4....yes 4....S&S cards on our last cruise. Always replaced quickly and with his bubbles sticker. Not a big deal. Big pain to lose it in port I see but still not a huge problem.

After you lose the fifth card there is a $5 charge. Kid fessed up when we saw this odd charge to her account.

We use the casino coil lanyards--

Some kids will clip it to their belt loop and shove the whole thing into a pocket. Some will ditch the coil and just have the card attached to the clip itself.
