You had me worried. from what i could find, Vasa closed in April but reopened on May 1. I think they were not sure when they would be able to reopen it, and said it could be as late as August.

No worries. Vasa is open

Default Mid-summer's eve in Malmo

Hi Desdichado62, I'm not sure if you'll know this, but is there anything open during the day of Mid-Summer's Eve (Jun 21) before 1pm in Malmo? I understand the museums may not be open that day.

I don't know, but in general most shops and etc are closed.

There is a boat sightseeing tour called Rundan Canal tour, first tour starts at 11.30 and arrives back at 12.20;

Other then that there are the traditional midsummer celebrations at Folkets Park.
This was last years schedule: http://translate.google.com/translat...olkets-park%2F

This shopping galleria is apparently open as well: http://www.entremalmo.se/shopping/ma...eppettider.php

Thanks for the great information! I think we'll do the Rundan Canal tour! Our hotel is right by it!

If ship doesn't dock until 9am...and we get off about 9:30....will hoho boats that go directly to the Vasa be available at that time of the morning?

We got off the Emerald Princess at 7 AM and the HOHO boat was already there waiting. Although we did use it and choose to walk the whole city in 6 hours instead.

I'm sure you have answered this before in the multitude of postings, but would you answer once more on the most economical way to get from the port to the airport? Thanks for all you do for us.

The most economical way would be the airport coaches. http://flygbussarna.se/en/arlanda

There is also commuter trains but I don't know exactly how much it costs.

Default Transport to Ship from Old Town Stockholm

We are staying pre-cruise days in Stockholm this July on our Baltic's cruise. Can you recommend the most economic public transport to get from the Radisson Blu Waterfront to the Pier on Embarcation day. Bus, train etc.? we have been warned about unscrupulous taxi drivers in Stockholm.
Suggestions?

Thanks

Walk from the hotel to point B (cityterminalen) or C on the map. From there go with Blue Bus #1 towards Frihamnen.
Get off at Frihamnen stop (end destination on the route).

https://maps.google.se/maps?saddr=Ni...p=2&sz=20&z=19

Looking at the bus route map, there should be a stop for bus #1 at both B and C but I am not sure.

Trip will take about 30 minutes.

Hi, Our cruise ship will arrive Stockholm on Jul 7 (Sun) at 9am, and leave at 4pm. Since I am traveling with kids and eldery, I hope to have a laid-back day in Stockholm, say leaving the ship around 10:30am and back around 2pm.

I wanted to visit the Ice Bar (any drink for kids?), get some local food for lunch, and maybe canal tour/old town. Is it possible to do all these on our own, or we better off join NCL's excursion? Thanks!
