When we had a land based vacation around Australia I purchased a mobile device in Sydney to use on my notebook for internet connection. This was very successful and much less expensive than using hotel internets.
![]() I now have an ipad and are going to be cruising around NZ. I am wondering if it is possible to purchase a mini sim card in NZ that I could use for internet access when in port. I think this would be very inexpensive compared to ship charges. Has anybody done this? At the moment I have a UK mini sim card that connects me via the phone service if I am out and about but it would be too expensive to use abroad. |

a lot of nz cities have free wifi available. Eg the wellington water front and most of the downtown has free wifi. Maybe search your ports and see if they are similar. You may not need a sim if you are just looking at casual use.

I am trying to make up my mind between an I pad and small lap top for our trip to Sydney and NZ cruise. I don't plan on getting on the internet that much, mainly for keeping track of information for our trip. However both our daughter and SIL will need to use the Internet. We are coming from the US and using Sydney as our base between our cruises, is there anything they should have with them that I can pass on. Thank you.
