Default NCL Sun Forward Mini-Suite or Aft Mini-Suite ?

I'm trying to decide on an aft mini-suite on the Sun on either deck 8 or deck 10, or a forward mini-suite on deck 11. What are the pros and cons of each? Tks!

The best are aft ms on 9. I am
Guessing those are gone? I have been in an aft PH on 9 and the minis are great. Nice big balcony with no wind. Here's your dilemma;

10-under great outdoors sometimes food drops over. Also, people look out over rail, less privacy.

8-above the theater. Can have some noise issues.

Would't let either be a deal breaker.

I am booked also on a forward mini-suite in December, on Pool Deck (11). I look every day at those aft minis thinking I would REALLY like to try one but know nothing....I guess I'm mostly worried about noise from the thrusters? and motion (for those sea sick prone)? Didn't even think about people above me. I also lust after a PH but I hear the bathrooms aren't as nice and roomy and with four on a 10 day cruise, extra space is always nice there.

I would also love to hear the forward vs. the aft pros and cons so I can at least get happy with what I got

We were in a 10 aft but 9 would be the best if available. 10 also has chair scrapping for 5-10 minutes around 6 am in our experience. That said, I'd still pick 10 over 8 since 8 is over theater and they do practice in there during the day as well. 10 is also just one floor up to buffet, bar, great outdoors.

We were in a mini suite on the Sun on the Pool Deck, which is Deck 12. Great location and very quiet.

Thanks for catching that. I think I had Deck 12 in my head for some reason when I was typing because our cabin was 1209. Definitely Deck 11.

IMO, forward looking cabins have the best views on the ship. I like seeing where I'm going, not where I've been. Also, the constant noise from the wake of the ship (in the aft cabins) can be a problem in a place (like Glacier Bay) where you really should enjoy the quiet. But some people like the wake as background "white noise."

I'd have to say there is more motion at the front of the ship than at the back. Not a lot, though...certainly not enough that it's ever bothered me.

On some cruises the wind at the front of the ship can be chilly...in Alaska, say, where the air temp is low and the forward motion of the ship adds to the chilly breeze. But in the Caribbean...never.

The thrusters (as opposed to the propellers, which are at the back) are at the front of the ship, and yes, when you are docking you will feel the vibration and hear some noise. It's not for long and shouldn't bother you.

Your comment about PH bathrooms puzzles me. Penthouses are larger all around than mini-suites, which are really just slightly bigger balcony cabins. Some of the penthouses have very large bathrooms with twin sinks and separate bath and shower. I don't think any mini-suite has those. I'd always opt for a penthouse if it was an option, since you get all the perq's of the butler and concierge service too.

The mini suites on the Sun are much nicer than regular minis. The bathroom/dressing areas are wonderful.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

We're looking at sailing on the Sun (10 night southern) spring of 2013, and are leaning towards an aft mini-suite.

We've noticed that most of the afts are still available on several sailing dates. This has me wondering, if the afts are so great, why are there so many still available?

Thank you for the pics of mini-suite forward. Sail Sun deck 11 forward 10/14 and can'twait. The cabin is perfect, lots of storage and room to walk around.

In our case it was the $1,000 EXTRA price tag. We took an aft Balcony- 8078- and it was that much cheaper. Also there are no "perks" that would warrant that much of a price differential for the cabin.
