Questions about New Orleans wine and food festival ?

Hi, i have a question about coming in on the memorial day weekend . there is a wine and food festival in town so i'm wondering if this is not a good weekend to come. i thought if we came we could purchase tickets until i saw that it was in the superdome instead of the convention center where we are staying. i think we could probably just stick to the restaurants in the area but need some one who is familiar with this event to let me know if this is something we should not miss.
