Hyatt Place - Plantation Fl.

We booked our cruise and flights then looked at hotels just to realize that the prices had skyrocketed to compare with last year. There was no availability at the Hyatt Place on 17th St. so we booked 2 rooms at the Hyatt in Plantation, the price was a lot less than other hotels downtown or on 17th St. Now we are wondering if we all made a huge mistake. Can someone please tell us if there is anything around the hotel, how far are we from the airport or pier. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are going to be really far away so I hope you have a car. Personally, I would cancel this and find other accommodations.

According to Mapquest.com, Hyatt Place Plantation is 12 miles from the port and 11 miles from the airport. A cab will not be inexpensive. As a comparison, Hyatt Place 17th Street (actually SE 10th Avenue) is less than 3 miles from the airport and less than 3.5 miles from the airport. You obviously pay for the convenience (including the savings in cab fares/car rentals).

We've rented a car through National, picking up & returning it to the airport & then taking their shuttle to the cruiseport for less than it would have cost us in cab fare from where we stayed. Plus you can get to a Publix or other places for your last-minute shopping!

Thank you everyone for your input, guess we better start looking for another place to stay as we booked 2 rooms for 2 nights pre and post cruise at the Plantation.
