Cruise Bucket List - Your Dream Cruise Before Your Die?

We all have a dream sailing in mind, that ultimate voyage we'd like to sail off on that big cruise ship in the sky. For some, it's a cruise to the urban landscapes and pagodas of the Far East or a river cruise along South Asia's legendary Mekong. For others, penguins and giant tortoises are the draw, and the bucket cruise would be a rugged expedition to Antarctica or the Galapagos. Some might say it's about the company they cruise with, and the perfect last cruise (before the electric chair) would be a weeklong Caribbean sailing with family and friends.

Whatever your dream cruise, be it a 100-night world voyage on a mega-ship or a luxury yacht cruise in the Mediterranean, we'd like to hear it.

Remember: Ignore real world constraints like money or vacation time … and be specific ... so we can live vicariously.

We'll share the results later this week in a member's speak out piece about bucket cruises!

A 100+ day world cruise.....but unless I win the lottery I can't justify some £40,000 for two inc. spending, & before someone says "you can do it cheaper".. let me explain....this is a holiday of a life time we don't want a bilge rat cabin on Z deck & make a bottle of wine last three days!!

That's right JohnthedOg, money is no object in our hypothetical musings ... dream cruise given you had a billion dollars to spend on the voyage of the lifetime.

Just the one endless dream.....to go on the Hebridean Princess round the Scottish islands.

First travelled on her when she was the ferry Columba, sailing between Oban and Isle of Mull. You could take short holidays on board- this is back in the '60s- and with my first salary, I was able to take my mum for her "bucket cruise".

Now her prices are out of my reach, and if I booked, it would probably be like this year, when once again the Queen has taken the whole ship.....and I'd be left curtseying on the dock.;)

jocap.

We plan on a 108 day around the world cruise hopefully on RCCL. We have put our kids thru college, paid off the mortgage and unlike my father. We realize we can't take it with us. Our dog has a few years left and we can't leave him that long. Sounds dumb but he isa great dog. When he goes we sail around the world.I hope everyone that wants to has the opportunity.

For me it would be the Galapagas Islands. It looks an incredible trip

It IS an incredible place ......... certainly not a touristy tropical paradise, however. The abundance of animals that have no fear of humans is just startling. Having cactus growing out of cracks in the rocks is surreal. I hope you can do it someday.:)

For the "Bucket List" we would love to do a World Cruise and be able to take our three Championship Scottish Terriers along with us. We would like for John Maxtone Graham to give a lecture each day on "Crossings" and to hear "Pepe" play wonderful Spanish music at night. The ports would be wonderful but to have another opportunity to meet people and get to know them like we did on our trans-atlantic would be fantastic. If we can't do that - any cruise will do.

I'd charter a Crystal or Seven Seas ship, and take my friends and family around the world, stopping at EVERY port that accepts cruise ships. This cruise would probably take more than 300 days I'm guessing

I would have to agree with you on this one! I'd stop at every port that I choose that takes cruise ships - and maybe even some that don't and I'll just tender everyone in. A whole ship and crew at my "disposal" - what a dream!

If we're really going for the gusto, then I want to PURCHASE the 6 bedroom, 6.5 bath penthouse apartment (currently for sale) on the World with enough money to get on and off the ship at my leisure wherever the ship may be. I SPECIFICALLY want the cruise portion that includes 3 days in Monte Carlo with the helicopter from the ship to the casino after 11:00PM (full formal dress code) PLUS the 3 days during Cannes that the World is docked for the Film Festival.

My dream cruise is an around the world broken into segments with some land travel inbetween.

Start with a cruise from Ft Lauderdale up the Amazon. From there fly to Qunito and do a Galapagos Islands cruise. Next fly to Tahiti and do a cruise around French Polynesia. Then off to Auckland, after a 10 to 14 day stay, do a cruise to Sydney. After a month or so in Australia take a cruise around Australia and up to Bankgok. After a short stay in that area, then next cruise would go all the way to England via Cape Town. From there a cruise to the fjords of Norway before doing a trans Atlantic and back to North America.

Total time 7 - 8 months.
