Explorer Balcony Question

Recommended Posts

I have searched the RCI boards and understand that the balcony dividers cannot be opened due to the ship design BUT... I was wondering has this changed since the latest refurbishment of the ship?

Our group has balconies midships and E grade cabins aft, deck 7.

Will be cruising from Australia to South Pacific Islands in March 2018.

Thank you for your assistance :)

No, you still cannot open the wall between balconies.

Thank you for your prompt response.

All goods, I was hoping that adjustments might have been made, but we are happy to have balconies.

Do you know how big the midship balconies are?

They look quite small in photos I have seen.

We have managed to book cabin 7388 and the balcony seems huuge!

Do you have any experience with this or a similar style of balcony aft?

Balcony 7388 is huge. We had balcony 7688 on the voyager and it's amazing. There are heaps of photos out there on this balcony. With the warm weather on your cruise you will certainly get to use this.

On Explorer and the other two first generation Voyager class ships (Adventure and Voyager), the balconies are part of the hull. They are "caves". On second generation (Navigator and Mariner), the balconies are affixed to the external skin of the hull.

You can't change the hull of the ship.

We had 7688/7388 on our first three cruises, and I can verify that the balcony is enormous. I think that it may be as big or bigger than the cabin itself!

Does anyone have any info on cabin 9340 on Explorer of the Seas? And what exactly is the difference between "Superior" Ocean View and "Deluxe" Ocean View?

Superior is about 15 square feet larger than Deluxe. The difference is in the length of the stateroom, Superior has a 3-person couch, Deluxe has a 2-person loveseat.

The width of the balcony is the same width as the cabin. So an E category and D category will have the same size balcony, even tho the D CABIN is larger than the E.

The "aft" balconies are deeper than the balconies on the side of the ship.

As far as the balcony dividers...they are part of the hull of the ship...they can't be opened, and will never be able to open, unless they re-build the ship from the "ground up", so to speak!!
