Playing 2 slots at once

Can you get a second card if you play 2 slots at once? This way you will earn points on both machines.

Don't think there's any reason they wouldn't give you a second card; just tell them you can't find your original one.

As to playing two machines at the same time: I've done this in land based casinos where there were plenty of machines available. Have never done it on a ship; I would think that the fewer number of machines available would mean that you'd have to be ready to give up one machine if someone wanted to play it. You'd probably have better luck doing this at odd hours when the casino wasn't crowded.

I've never seen any posted rules that prohibited playing two machines at once on the ships I've been on.

Not sure that if you said "I lost my card" that the old one work even work anymore. IN a land based casino... no big deal making a duplicate card, on a cruise ship its tied to your credit card and they NEVER ask for ID when you use it. SO as soon as you say "you lost it"they would cancel that FOLIO number of the card you lost, issue you a new number and a new card. You are best off asking them for a duplicate for the purpose. I don't see why they wouldn't do that. BUT I am also not sure if the points system can handle having two active machines at the same time. It would be a good question to ask the casino folks once on the ship.

As long as you are willing to give up the second machine should the casino be full and someone wants to play, the casino would love to have you throw money into 2 slots at once.

Sorry, I should have remembered that some cruise lines do tie your casino card to your on board account. On NCL (all of my recent cruises) this is not the case. Your casino card is just a casino rewards card, as it is in most land based casinos. There's no linkage between it and your credit card or on board account, and so in that case, I don't know why they wouldn't give you a second card.

Seriously? I love the casino but hate when some hog is tying up two machines at once. Thats about on the same level as all the drink glasses and ashtrays I see "playing" the machines at our local casino. And saved deck chairs. And people standing at the buffett eating in line instead of moving. Since you asked this in a public forum you obviously don't realize how selfish this is so I'm going to assume your are a decent person who just doesn't know any better. Please stop. There's a lot of us on the ship who would like to have fun too!

I've always been curious how this works since I was told a long time ago by a Casino worker that if you're playing with the same card at the same time that only one play registers. Anyone know for sure how it works?

Wow. Most casinos have rules that you cannot play two machines at once during high volume hours, when machines might be in short supply. Also, many casinos specifically prohibit the playing of more than one of the most popular machines at one time.

You're making some unfair assumptions about the person to whom you're replying, and about the rest of us in general. I would prefer to assume that anyone playing two machines would be gracious enough to give one up if asked.

And if I find a machine with nothing but a drink and an ashtray on it at a casino, and I want to play it, I do. The only two recognized signs of a machine that is being held is to find the chair leaning up against the machine, or to find a slot host standing there, holding the machine for someone (Of course, the machine could be "capped" and taken out of play too, but then you can't play it anyway).

Now saved deck chairs? That's another story. But NCL, at least, is taking some measures about that.

Don't know about others, but with the Harrah's Total Rewards system, you get credit for both cards being played. I have never tried it on the ships, so I can't answer for them.

Hi Videotech, Really the only thing I was assuming is that a thoughtful person would pick a machine and play that one. I personaly don't have a problem asking some to cash out if they are hogging machine, tossing deck hogs junk in the trash and taking the chair or telling some buffett hog to move along. But a lot of people do, and they just walk away. I myself try to be aware of the world around me and not put someone else in the position of having to ask me to do the right thing.

For someone who does the right thing all the time your tone is rude.......

Even the way you replied to Videotech seems uncalled for, and he is one of the most helpful guys on this board.........

That's funny you mention Total Rewards since it was at Harvey's/Harrah's Lake Tahoe that we were told that. It was probably about 10 years ago, so I'm sure it's changed now. I always wonder when I pass someone playing two machines. Thanks.

  • 1 month later...

I've done it on a couple of Carnival cruises. It is only for slots. The points accumlate but don't add to your balance until you pull the SLOT ONLY card out. Also, you cannot put any winnings on that card to move to another machine. You must put your first card in to cash out to move to another machine. I played two machines on a row where all the other 'same type' machines were empty, (because I'm so courteous of other players)!:rolleyes:

Just wish the smokers were as respectful! :p Just ask the Casino Host and they'll hook you up!

I have never been bothered by anyone playing 2 machines at once. The only thing I cannot understand is how anyone can afford it. I seem to lose a lot of money just playing one machine - I would go broke in no time playing 2 at once.

I'm not being a complainer, I just wish I had the nerve to bet that much at one time. I am a big chicken:)

And if I find a machine with nothing but a drink and an ashtray on it at a casino, and I want to play it, I do. The only two recognized signs of a machine that is being held is to find the chair leaning up against the machine, or to find a slot host standing there, holding the machine for someone.

This reminds me of something.

I play mostly at MGM in Detroit or Caesars Windsor across the river from Detroit in Canada. I very, very rarely see anyone prop a chair against a machine at MGM. Most people will leave something on the chair and their card in/on the machine. (I know that if you leave your slot card in the machine too long at MGM, it will be "locked," so that you have to have a slot attendant unlock it.) I think that propping a chair against a machine is a tripping hazzard, so I don't do it. At Caesars Windsor, the seats are stationary, so they cannot be moved.

After playing for some time, I occasionally have to use the restroom. I usually take my jacket/sweater off (always something I wouldn't care if I lost since one lady told me that she came back from the restroom to find a man trying to walk off with her jacket), hang it on the back of the chair and leave my card on the machine. I am never gone for more than five minutes.

One time, I came back to find my slot card removed from the slot machine, my jacket removed from the back of the chair and placed on the empty chair next to it, and a woman starting to play my machine. I asked her why she was playing my machine and didn't she see that it was occupied? She said she didn't think anyone was playing it since there were no credits on the machine (huh?), but she did move. So, on another trip when I needed to use the restroom, I left two credits (50 cents) on the machine. When I came back, they were gone.

Too funny about the credits...I don't think I'd ever leave any credits in a machine for any reason, although it could be an interesting experiment in human behavior.

Of course, there are a lot of casinos where the chairs can't be moved, and in those cases it usually seems to come down to the generosity of strangers...you look at the person playing next to you, and if you feel comfortable with it, you ask them to hold the machine for you. But even when I do that, I'd never leave my player card, any credits, or my jacket or sweater on or in the machine!
