Room service and to go food

If they are going to try to force everyone to order RS, they need to expand the hot breakfast menu substantially. I can't imagine anyone, who enjoys breakfast on their balcony, wants to eat the same thing every morning. IMO, this policy is making balcony cabins less attractive, which is a shame.

That's why I have everything on my FB page set to friends only. I also don't befriend just anyone. If I don't actually know them.....I ignore the request.

Photos.....nothing shows up that can identify me or my family. My FB page is set so it can't be 'searched'. If one searches my name, nothing about me shows up via google. My friends can't even see who my friends are as I've set it up that way. I only wish I could set it up that my friends friends can't see that I'm their friends friend. Meaning if I'm a friend of Julie all Julie's friends can see that I'm her friend. That's the one thing I don't like. I keep my friends private.....but not everyone does. :( One other thing I wish I could change on FB is who can contact me. There are only two choices....everyone or friends of friends. But then again, unless I know the person I ignore the request.

Harriet

Yes I have mine set that way as well.

The friend's friend thing bothers me as well

It comes down to this... While you and I may have our security set right...the others don't and that too can directly affect your fb account

What really gets to me is when someone posts on a public page ....especially if a friend posts..on fb...be it political...or the tug at your heart strings type of page designed to get your info via encouraging you to comment or like or share...and viola 50,000 fb users have already posted on that page plus my friends friend list is now most likely public... Thus my name is out there too!!!

Once you post on a public page any of those other 50,000 can see your page🙀🙀🙀🙀

So if I read their new policy correctly, when I get back from a tour or a private island for-the-day, I cannot stop at the pizzeria and bring a few slices to my cabin? Or grab a sandwich to enjoy on my balcony? Well guess what, NCL!!!

If there is no Take-Away on the Getaway or the Breakaway, or Escaping on to my cabin with something to eat, I will be cruising on any other brand that has a more liberal policy and will let me enjoy a snack in my cabin. Shame on you, NCL!

I'll stick with NCL's lower initial cruise price and if I want food in my cabin the cost still won't come close to the higher cost of the other lines cruise per passenger per cabin.

I have been guilty of bring back some goodies at breakfast for the wife to eat while she puts on her face. I've been guilty of bringing back some cookies to eat late at night. I guess NCL will have security monitoring for cookie smugglers. I can see guests getting patted down leaving the buffet. $250.00 fine for food in the room?

NCL is turning into Carnival. Carnival is cheap but niches and dimes on everything. NCL is quickly on their heels. Just cancelled 3 cruises and will be booking on RCL.

Funny... in my opinion I have always considered NCL a step down from CCL. Anyway..

I almost want to book a NCL cruise and take breakfast from the buffet to the cabin, and see if anyone dares to put their hands on me to stop me. I doubt it would happen.

I agree with you though that it will be impossible for them to stop people.

Just so you guys all know I just took it upon myself to call NCL directly.

I got a very rude phone agent mind you, but this is what she said:

You will not be able to take ANY food out of public ares (restaurant or buffet). There will be NO exceptions for people who are sick and/or people with small children who prefer to eat in rooms for convenience. She even suggested that this shouldnt be a problem unless your kids are not well behaved in which case they shouldnt be going on the cruise anyways and then preceded to say "What, you dont take your kids to restaurants back home?". I dont even have kids, I was just asking. Then she said, "If a person is sick they shouldnt be eating because that would just make them more nauseated". Seriously, NCL? I hope this is not what youre getting phone agents to tell people?

AND IT DOES APPLY TO DRINKS ALSO! She said ANY drinks from the bar cannot be taken back to enjoy on your balcony!!

I told her that made no sense because what about those who order bottles of wine and they get delivered to the room itself. She said bottles of wine would be an exception but drinks ordered one at a time from the bar must stay in public areas!

This is ridiculous. If im walking around with a glass of wine how are they going to know if i poured it in my room or got it from the bar? No way to enforce that.

I am an avid NCLer and will be a Platinum member after our next cruise. I have gone out of my way to defend them in the past but this is just getting insane.

I pay extra to have a balcony and now youre telling me i cannot BUY a Martini from the bar and bring it back to my room?! Why am I paying extra for a balcony?

Not happy.

Can't take drinks back to enjoy in your room? Hard to believe this "rude phone agent" has the full story (and of course we all know that questioning what we're told over the phone by NCL agents is only prudent), but if true, this would seem to be an encouragement to smuggle liquor on board.

They seriously would not have enough "man power" to enforce this. For instance if you are out at the pool bar and order a drink. Are they going to follow each person with a drink in their hand to see if they sat out there? Are they going to follow you back to your chair by the pool? I doubt it. How will they know where you went? If I brought soda on board with me and I get the soda package (as I always do) and get a soda from someplace to drink, how do they know if I actually got it from my package or from my room? I ALWAYS take the glass back with me, use the ice in my room, and pour myself a drink from "my stash". There's no way to police this. They are crazy!

Exactly, agreed. That is what i am saying. There is no way for them to know where i got it one way or another. This IS crazy.

I wonder if more people tried calling if they would get the same answer?

As soon as I see "the NCL phone agent said..." I stop reading. They are clueless. Utterly clueless. I hate to generalize but it seems to be pretty well understood. I once had a NCL phone rep tell me -- assure me -- that the ship would make it from Ketchikan to Victoria in 13.5 hours -- which is, I assure you, impossible. No matter how many times I tried to explain that it takes about 30 hours to accomplish this, the agent persisted.

In order to make it from Ketch to Vic in 13.5 hours, the ship would have to do about 50 knots. Ever seen a cruise ship with a rooster tail? Me neither.

I know everyone is hitting them up in "chat" on their website and they are all being told that they can not talk about it because there has not been an official announcement yet so they can't discuss it. Someone did comment to me that "I am sure however based on the social media response,..that there will be one soon that will clarify it."

I completely agree with you when it comes to the knowledge of the phone agents at NCL. I can guarantee that you will get more knowledge from the people here on this board than them. I have made many calls to them over the years and each time you hang up and call back on the same subject, you will get a DIFFERENT answer from each. They have no idea what's going on and I have no idea where they get these people and if they are even trained to begin with.
