Norway has been sold

On another cruise board (trust me, a credible one), I read that the Norway was put up for sale by NCL in April, and was purchased (by an unidentified party) in late May, for something in the range of $25 million.

Rumors have it that the buyer was either a French group that wants to permanently dock the ship somewhere in France (as a floating museum/hotel, ergo, another Queen Mary setup) or an "Asian" firm that wants to use it somewhere in the Far East for "gambling cruises."

So if they are credible, why not name the source?

Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space.

Dance like it hurts, love like you need money, and work when somebody's watching.

I don't think anyone should weep. The chances of it coming back were very small anyway. It just couldn't meet the new solas requirements. t is amazing that it will be useable as a hotel somehere. At least she will be used as something somewhere. It could be moved around as a hotel where needed but steam engines are a dying breed for good reason-they are very dangerous.

Yes, we had seen the ad posted here earlier, but I hadn't heard that there was a buyer. Good news!

The speculation about possibilities for her future life had included the "floating hotel" and "casino ship" scenarios, from shortly after the accident. Still the most likely, it looks like. I guess we will have to wait and see what comes of it.

Thanks for the update.

It will be hard for me to forget her at least until April, 2006, since my NCL Mastercard has a pic of the Norway on it.
